Facebook comps - The end of the 'Like' requirement

this week I've has 2 rather panicky emails about facebook changes starting in early Nov - mainly that companies will no longer be able to ask you to like a page to enter a comp. They seem to think that this means there will be a lot fewer facebook comps after the,

However as the rules say you can ask people to share or tag to enter yet loads do I'm not sure if there will be a huge change - what's your view on this

If it does mean an end to FB comps, I think that they'll only move elsewhere, I expect... Maybe to Twitter, or one of the underused channels like Pinterest.... :)

That already seems to be happening anyway, so I would be surprised if Facebook would want to accelerate the rapid rate of comps moving onto the sites of their social media competitors.

Having said that, a lot of companies already ignore what Facebook tells them they should or shouldn't do... :rotfl:

I rarely do the competitions that require you to share, or tag friends.

The majority of my FB friends are not compers so they don't like being bombarded with shares.

And recently FB has been throwing posts by friends of friends into the news feed even if you're only set for friends.

To be honest I don't enter half as many Facebook comps as I used to so if companies post less comps or stop posting comps altogether then it wouldn't bother me whatsoever. Anyway, I am getting bored of seeing the same old 'like and share' comps and there is too much cheating going on or people missing out on wins because companies have failed to tag or direct message them, or people have their prizes claimed by other dishonest people! Nope defo won't miss Facebook if it comes tumbling down! crossed-arms-smiley-emoticon.gif
:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea

I don't do them anyway, so I won't be missing them (if they really do stop). Fewer comps for me to put an X next to in the listings :rotfl:

I'd be quite happy if they moved all FB comps to good old entry forms.

Don't mind the ones with entry forms but can't stand like and share, tag and comment comps.

I agree. Call me biased but considering how I was caught in the whole Facebook purge of competition entrants a while ago and I was one of the unlucky ones permanently banned, I won't be shedding a tear, if it turns out to be true, if these changes come true and companies take their competitions away from having a mandatory Facebook registration in order to enter them.

If the way the rules are followed at the moment is anything to go by then the possible changes will not make the slightest difference.

I keep seeing posts from companies saying that if we don't interact with their page by commenting/liking etc (not even related to competitions) then facebook will decide we don't want to "Like" them anymore and unlike for us? So facebook really are encouraging people to like statuses anyway.
