Can you start your own new thread please.

Firstly complain to the services and get this cancelled at this stage.

Read and digest the NEWBIES thread. Make sure in this you don't lose time and ensure you get your appeals to PE done if timescales are tight.

    Hi all,
I was unlucky enough to go into South Mimms Services on Friday 24th July and have ended up with a 100quid fine. It took 30mins getting into the parking area to park, then after a quick wee break and coffee it took over an hour getting out - due to some sort of backlog on M25. I barely even registered the 2hour parking notices, and even then figured you had to be parked to apply.....not waiting to exit!!
Has anyone else experienced this, or found out how to push back on the charge?
    Faithfully yours,
    Mark

!!!!!! is this country coming to when this happens, all these PPCs should be hung out to dry and the government with them.

I wasn't aware that being inside your car was considered "parking"

It would surely depend on how long you were there. If it was a few minutes while you looked at a map, I would say it was not. If you were on the backseat and snoring then it probably would.

    How would you define parking?[/QUOTE]

Perhaps you could ask PE how they define parking in regard to this case ?
That would be anyone who passed the in camera and the out camera, anything in between they consider parking.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.

So if someone didn't see the signs they are supposed to be psychic

They are probably lying, or plain stupid.

That's nonsense and you know it. I've spent a fair bit of time on the motorway network (from Perth to Devon) and have never seen a motorway service area with sufficient signage. Sure there's signs all over the toilets telling you about it, but if you stay in the car, at night, the chances are the first you'll notice of this limit is the NTK.

Have you not noticed the pattern with these things? Driver is tired, driving at night, follows advice to rest for a bit, pulls into a car park, falls asleep, wakes up and drives off. The chances are they never even saw the signage, never mind being able to parse it all whilst passing the signs at 30mph.

I'll cede my point if you can show me a single MSA in the UK where the signage is actually up to standard, and can be read at night.
