It's worth noting that in my original post, I'm not judging anyone (I just said it was annoying)... and It's not necessarily about posting competitions, it was about making a contribution to the forums.
Most of the commenters in this thread have 100+ posts, or a good amount of posts based on the date they joined ... this contributes to the forum, that's what it's really about, people contributing (not necessarily by posting comps, that was just a side point). It's the people that have been a member for a longer time and only have 2 posts or something like that.

Not thanking someone when you enter a competition is just plain rude, it takes seconds to do and also helps you keep track of what comps you've entered. I don't know if anyone actually cares about their thanks count, but that's not really the point.

I not noticed any of the clique'ness, or abusive / rude comments to new compers.
I've posted a few comps, a few dupes, got the date formats wrong, not included links etc, but I've never had anyone being rude or directed a comment at me that I would consider harsh or blunt.

    How would you know?

Entries via MSE to most competitions are just a small percentage of the total entries so most prize winners will not be members and of the winners who are forum members only a small number post in iwiwiw.

Just looking at the Winners forum, you can see the winners who don't contribute.

As far as i'm aware, the members who post comps are happy for all to enter, regardless. Otherwise i would imagine they wouldn't post them up on a public forum.

You do also realise that if everyone who actually enters these competitions had to contribute on the live board in some way, the live board would be a chaotic mess.

OP, how about channeling your jealousy into more positive emotions and you may find you'll have a lot more fun.

Sleepyjones again you say 'Just looking at the Winners forum, you can see the winners who don't contribute.'
Where does it state that someone MUST contribute to use the Forum and win ? It is personal choice be it for whatever reason if someone contributes or not and if someone chooses not to contribute then they do not deserve to be targeted for it. Surely your time could be better used entering more competitions (seen as you are Jealous because you haven't won) than going round checking who has and hasn't contributed to the Forum

Look, people can do whatever they want ... All I've said is it's annoying ... and it is.

That's it, end of story. I don't know why people are turning this into a crusade, all I said was that it is annoying, which to me it is, just my opinion, like it or not I don't really care.

Just looking at the Winners forum, you can see the winners who don't contribute.

"a lot of these prizes go to members that don't seem to contribute"

I had over a dozen wins before I found a competition to post because everything I found was already posted so until then I made no contribution you could see.

Most competition winners will not be forum members and of those who are there are many (probably the majority) who do not post in the winners forum. (and a thread like this is not likely to increase the number who post about their wins).

Not that is matters if someone contributes or not but posting in the winners section is in itself a "contribution".
