I don't post up too many comps because usually the ones I find have already been posted up. I do post up some comps though and try to help out if answers are required.
I always thank the posters of any comps I enter, and even thank the posters of comps I decide not to enter too. That is just the way I am though. If I get served in a shop or someone does me a favour etc, I say thank youIf people decide not to hit the thanks button then fair enough!
I don't have a problem with people coming on here and not posting comps. Some people may work full/part time so don't have much time to look for comps as well as enter them. Some may not work at all because of a disability, unemployment, retirement etc but that doesn't mean to say they have to post loads of comps. These people may have family or other commitments that take up their time.
I think this forum does really well and there are enough competitions posted up on a daily basis to keep most people busy.
My opinion is the same with what people choose to enter or do with their prizes - everyone is entitled to do what they want and I won't lose sleep worrying over what other people get up to.
My motto is to:
So I...
enter what I can and forget,
post up what I can and forget,
and keep my fingers and believe in the comping fairy!:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0 -

OOh so judgemental!! I don't click thanks on the competitions I enter for a very good reason but always thank by PM when I win.
Interested to know what your good reason is, softpad.0 -

I think it would be impossible for everyone who uses this board to post up comps. Imagine how many duplicates there would be!! I think in the whole time I've used this board I might have posted 20 comps so I'm hardly a prolific poster, but I do like to think that I contribute to the board in other ways such as offering help with answers etc.
I always click thanks, whether to the original poster of a comp, to anyone who's added help, or just to something I generally like and agree with. I can't see any reason why anyone would be against pressing thanks? As other users have said, manners cost nothing.
If someone in real life did something nice for me (in the same way that comp posters go out of their way to help us and dilute their own chances of winning) then I'd say thanks to them, so why not here?0 -
a lot of newbie bashing going on here, by newbies..
im quite new (when will i be able to post links? just as a side note here..) my typing is usually quite rushed and i make a few mistakes, i am not gramatically correct in my typing but often notice when others arnt.
i am probably a mixture of most things most people on here get annyed at... BUT ive been met with nothing but a lovely crowd, helpful replies, people wishing me luck.
ive been on online forums for a long time, since i was a lot younger (pretending to be older though, if anyone comes across my old accounts ive not aged in about 6/7 years..) so i let most things go over my head.
if your new, and someone says something which is a little bit offensive etc, laugh it off! dont get offended! people will try to help you but if you wont listen to help then dont get stroppy when people get fed up of telling you the same thing..
anyways im off subject rather here, a lot of people arnt on here so early, therefore when i get online most competitions are already posted. and the pages move so fast i never know if its been posted or not. at the moment im still sussing it out i cant post links yet (i dont think) and am a little unsure on general layouts of posts, so i shall sit & wait, watch the pros. i always post thanks (but i use the thanks button as a like button)
just have fun, comp away, and revel in your own little comp bubble..0 -
I'm sorry but I find this totally ridiculous. This is an open forum and there is nothing that says any user MUST do anything . I have posted a few competitions but have seen a good few more that have not been posted and left them purely because I am unsure about them and do not want to risk the wrath of certain users because since my short time on here I have seen rudeness and ignorance passed to other users in abundance. I think it is threads like this that could possibly stop some users doing what you see as wrong. It is a competition forum and anyone whether they contribute or not is well within their rights to win.
P.S. Do people really check to see who has thanked someone on posts?0 -

I don't post competitions I just enter them. I might post an answer now and again if I know it. Why? Because when I joined this site I didn't read or tick any terms and conditions saying I had to contribute or that I had to listen to other members and do what they say (As long as I stick to the rules, which I do)
I work full time plus I'm a carer for an elderly parent and a mother with a home to run. I comp for pleasure when I have time, it's not a job and it will never be an extra burden on my time just because some people are unhappy that I and many many more compers do it this way.
I think I speak for the majority when I say, it's not job for 99% of us.
So, the OP can have a moan, either to herself/himself or, as has happened, publicly on the boards, but it won't change anything for me.2014 - £12360 -
I don't post comps because I am too busy entering the comps posted by the smashing lovely people here who do post. Maybe that makes me a selfish, greedy goat but hey ho.
As for pressing the thanks button, it takes a fraction of a second whether you enter the comp or not so I feel it should be done. When I've been lucky enough to win I don't always post in IWIWIW but I will always send a short thank you to the OP of the comp.
As for the clique/sad people twaddle... seriously? I don't think there are a nicer bunch of folk than on MSE comps. Yes of course sometimes something will rile somebody and sometimes it gets a little overheated but isn't that true of life off line too?
Cheer up glum ones, fingers crossed the wins will come rolling in soon."The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,

How would you know?
Entries via MSE to most competitions are just a small percentage of the total entries so most prize winners will not be members and of the winners who are forum members only a small number post in iwiwiw.0
