Well, there is if one side won't admit the truth.
In the Bijan Ebrahimi case the police admitted failing him.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-bristol-24724534
Ive read that article and cant see where you state the police had admitted to failing him.
Its a sad case, and is still be investigated by the IPCC and looked into by the CPS - However I fail to see how you can tar the entire police, which has aprox 130,000 officers, due to the actions of a few.0 -
As the UK husband of a foreign-born spouse, your friend's wife is / would be required by law to inform the Home Office / UKVI of any changes to her marital status - I believe that would trigger a review of the spouse visa.Shayboy786 wrote: »The Domestic Abuse would not stop the divorce. She would be entitled to Legal Aid since she's screaming Domestic Abuse and assault.. Otherwise, she would not be entitled to Legal Aid under new regulations. Not a mark or scratch was found on her by the Police. Shes declined to give a formal written statement to the Police as well..
Their marriage has only lasted for a year together.
If she gets Legal Aid she will exhaust every possible angle through the Solicitors to lengthen the process of getting a Divorce to get Indefinite Leave to Remain in the country. The 999 call had recordings of my friend repeatedly shouting for urgent Police help..
The system is shambolic.. She should be answerable to making false allegations..0 -
So to sum up;
Police called to scene of domestic argument.
Police negotiate at the scene to achieve best outcome.
Police, whilst on the scene, receive a complaint of assault.
Police, taking the allegation seriously as they should, arrest the person who allegedly has committed this assault.
Police, upon investigation, release said person with no charge after no evidence of said assault could be ascertained.
I think the phrase is "nothing to see here, move along".0 -

Reason for the call.. Was to control /evict the psychotic wife in the house. After an hour of rowing with her..she became unpredictable and started to use words such as assault..
He realised she is trying to get him done for Domestic abuse as the marriage is not working n since she had a Spouse Visa, due to expire soon. If my mate divorces her then she would have to go back to her native cave she crawled from..
Unfortunately, the common thug of an Officer responded with 5/6 others. After 20mins of talks and unnecessary negotiations.. My friend asked the Officer in charge for his name and collar number..
This irritated him to the point that he decided to arrest him instantly for common assault ( on the wife /alleged ).
Then he came back in the house and took away the piece of paper from the house with his details that were jotted down..
The shameless Officer lied on the arrest sheet as well !
On advice from the Duty Solicitor, matter was reported to the local Police Station. The Duty Inspector in charge was supposed to call back..since no details of the Officer in question.. We are finding it difficult to take this thug to task.
My friend was interviewed the following day in relation to the charges of Common Assault, released with No Further Action.
It's very frustrating to see the Officer behave in such a manner and he knows he can hide behind the system like a verminous rat..
Any suggestions and advice will be greatly appreciated.Jim_Jupiter wrote: »So to sum up;

From what I understand it was the OP's friend that called the police (The Husband) and it was him that finished up getting arrested?
The Husband was upset that the police were not able to get his wife to calm down as she was threatening him (Threatening that she would get him arrested for assault - a threat only, no indication that there was any assault), husband asked for the police officers name as h wasn't happy with how they were dealing the case, police officer then arrested him.
So summary - husband called police due to verbal abuse and threats from wife.
Police turn up - arguments continue, police can't calm the situation.
Police arrest husband (who was the one that called the police), instead of wife.Weight loss challenge, lose 15lb in 6 weeks before Christmas.0 -

Police arrest husband (who was the one that called the police), instead of wife.
Makes no difference as to who called the police.
The police attended and deemed it necessary to arrest the husband.
Lets not forget that in the scenerio we have:
- The husbands version of events
- The wifes version of events
- The officers interpretation of the event
- The OP (friend) version of the events0 -

All the above parts one by one each time take away any credibility really to this story. To me it sounds like an exaggerated version of what went on which does make me think it may well be a fuss over nothing.0 -
So the arrest WAS lawful then? Either to prevent a breach of the peace or to investigate an allegation of assault.
It appears that your thread title is inaccurate as well as misspelled, OP?0 -
So... let me get this straight...
The guy called the police because he was having a row with his wife in his house.
Am I missing something?
Maybe the officer attending was a bit peed off because he could have been dealing with real crime elsewhere0 -
The 999 call had recordings of my friend repeatedly shouting for urgent Police help..
You've not told us what the wife was doing to cause him to do this?0
