What is SPAM?

I have a feeling, and please feel free to to disagree, that not everybody know the generally accepted meaning of the term SPAM.

Obviously there is the spam we all know and love from Monty Python

"Spam is a canned precooked meat product made by the Hormel Foods Corporation, first introduced in 1937"

And email spam

"Electronic spamming is the use of electronic messaging systems to send unsolicited bulk messages (spam)"

And then

MSE Forum spam

"posting comments more than once on the forum"

So I thing we should only press spam if it fall into the processed meat category and thus making it easier for all of us to spot true spam.

To me spam is the type of post that say "buy cheap bags/glasses/pills etc from us at this overseas website". With my user name BH, I sometimes get targeted with cheap fake leather goods sellers......

Anything else comes under the report for breach of rules/guidelines.

I can't understand why we need two threads next to each other the same subject especially when a BG started the other one

Glad's thread was to explain why self promotion wasn't the same as SPAM. I see this as more to discuss what is SPAM.

Why do we have endless threads on I'm new how do I win? Or I've missed a parcel, what's this phone number, any tips, ITV wins, should I put just A ot A and the answer....
