International calls - do you get charged even if you don't answer?
Recently I was abroad and roaming was on £1.50 for calls (incoming and receiving). I did turn on carrier so phone was on network in that country, in case I received an urgent call/got into emergency.
I saw bills for that month today, and saw that I had £6.00 additional to pay on top of £12 that I pay for my SIM only deal. To break down £6.00 was = 1x experiment call from this phone to another number (to see if it works), and 3 calls that I received from other numbers.
Never ever did I ever press answer button on my phone whilst I was abroad (nor on the recipients phone when I was making the experiment outgoing call). I was wondering if I still get charged even if I didn't answer the call.
edit: I am with EE at the moment.

Edit
Yes it's both ways .... http://explore.ee.co.uk/roaming/ee-while-youre-away
You’ll also be charged when someone leaves you a voicemail unless you divert all calls to voicemail, or switch off your device when you’re travelling.
Here’s how it works when someone leaves you a message:
You’ll be charged for the per minute incoming rate and at the same time the outgoing per minute travelling rate for making a call. Please note that charges may continue to apply until you're reconnected to the EE network in the UK. We therefore recommend that you turn on your phone as soon as permitted when you return to the UK.It's not just about the money0 -
Why not ?
If you don't answer it re routs through to your voicemail in the UK and gets charged as roamingI think with EE you get charged both ways for each message incoming for the phone to locate and then outgoing to send the message to voicemail

Oh 'eck I hadn't realised this. Not that I'm planning on going abroad soon, it is useful to know. Thanks!0 -
Never had any voicemail messages. At least when I see on my phone there were no voicemails to be read. The calls just hung up before voicemail stage but I wonder if you don't answer voicemail are automatically added0
