I've seen people giving the telly a thump on the side when it isn't working properly. So maybe a remote is the same. Bang it on the wall.
    This is not good advice.

It's telling the OP to buy a new telly, it must be 10 year's old and due for the chop.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

    Hi Folks

I'm conrtinuing to have problems with the new remote control that I have bought - I have tried all possible codes, but still the remote is unable to control my sony tv. I even went to my local sony dealer who said the code is definitely '0000' - and even that doesn't work!

I bought the remote from a site on Ebay, which was considerably cheaper than what Sky themselves sell it for. So, do you think there is an actual fault with this remote and that I should return it, and then buy the more expensive remote from Sky themselves? May be that new remote would work?

    Any further advice greatly appreciated.

    You bought it off Ebay!
Are you sure its genuine, when you look inside the battery cover what does the label say?

I think that might be the clue...

    Hi folks

When I look inside the battery cover, it days - URC1616-00R0, and underneath it says - 3RC32B-1163 SkyDigi rev.8R.

Does that sound like a genuine remote control to you?

    Thanks

Rev 9 is the latest version, and has been around for a few years. So Rev 8 is quite old, but I wouldn't have thought that was the issue as I had a Rev 8 remote until quite recently and it worked ok with my TV.

You could always try this. Worked with my Sony but can't remeber the Sky code or even there being one. Just followed the programming advice. Hope it's helpful.
