I've just updated my signature. Debt hasn't come down much this month, but I knew that would be the case. This month is very tight financially, as will next month be because I had no work ore the summer. I'm working 3-4 days a week now, so already end of october's pay is looking decent. As long as I can keep that going I can increase payments to emergency fund (currently £151, aiming for £1500) and increase cc payments.
This weekend has been a low spending weekend. Stayed in yesterday and then going out for lunch with parents today. I've got quite a but if work to do on my second job, will do a bit this morning. Hopefully will be getting a few more pennies in that way.Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -

Hi, Celticmiss. Pretty much worked full time last week and the same this week so by the evening I've been shattered! Not used to it after maternity leave!!
Well, it is the last day of the month. I have £3.24 left in food pot, plus a £5 co-op voucher. Will use the voucher today as need milk and eggs, so will pop a few extra bits in to make it £5. Got £25 left in the petrol pot, but going away for the weekend so will use that!
I was looking at our account last night, and for the first time in a long time, it is the end of the month and we have money left in quite a few pots! Yay!!!
My food shopping changes next month to save a little extra money are going to be:
1. Cut back on the amount of orange juice I drink (I have a massive glass each morning! Was measuring glasses last night and have found a compromise glass! It will mean I'll be spending around £1.60 a week on juice using value, which I always use).
2. Cut back on the amount of meat I use in our meals. Have started a thread on using lentils to bulk out meals instead of loads of mince, so going to cut back and save there.
I hope you've had a lovely September and October will be money savingStarting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -

Thanks Mrs S.
Hubby and I have also decided that as well as paying off our debts, we will be putting money aside for our next baby so that we will have plenty to see us through my next maternity leave, so that's a massive motivation for saving/paying off debtsWe're currently thinking about trying Summer 2016

Good to see you back and working as hard as ever with the debt busting. You are doing a great job. We have two girls and i do believe second time around its a bit cheaper as you recycle all the things you brought shiny and new first time. You also don't have the same amount of time to be out browsing the shops.
That said I think your money mind set will see you through beautifully.
Glad your back but hope you get some rest this weekend.xLBM August 2014: £16430.26

That is definately great motivation!
I have one of each, and would have loved more, but finances etc dictated otherwise! I felt totally restricted during my second maternity leave because of money, it was constant penny pinching and it did sort of spoil it. I just can't wait for a time when money is such a big focus, or lack of it!
Our motivation is to move to a bigger house, I guess if we all have something to work towards it makes it easier and give you something to focus on at the end of all the hard work and debt busting!
Looking forward to seeing your journey progress!

Thought a quick update would be good
Got a poorly ds today so having a day indoors mopping up sick! He's just settled for a nap so thought it was an ideal time to pop on here whilst the bicarb of soda is doing its work!
Things are still going pretty well. A couple of supermarket trips have crept in with a few extra treats. Need to get on top of that! Still have enough for the rest of the month's grocery shopping so just need to be careful now!
Have made quite a bit in extra income through my second job this month. Nearly £190 so far. Hopefully will manage quite a bit more by the end of the month. Have had to cancel a couple of days work this week due to son being ill, so no pay from there, but then received a call to book me in the week after half term so will make it back up then.Starting a new debt free journeyStarting Debt: £5,250Current Debt: £4,995.50Amount Paid: £254.50 Percentage Paid: 4.84%Emergency Fund: £3500 -

I notice you're South Wales, I'm probably not that far from you! I've supplied in a couple of schools in the past weeks where children have been sick in front of me. I phoned ds's nursery earlier to let them know he won't be in for the rest of the week and they said it was working its way around the nursery too!
