Wow. Where would we be without you to put us right JJ? Obviously you are still an avid reader of the HPC website, there may be hope for you yet.0 -

I've only ever read hpc when someone highlighted your posts and profile on hpc, that's when I realized how desperate your situation is.
Just to make a quick point, you have made hundreds of posts more than me, yet I've been here around 4 years, you've been posting for 6 months....... But you don't care about house prices0 -
Haha, you're as bad as Peter Griffin for wanting the Movie title to be said in the dialogue.

Well for me its all about the context, I'd agree that there is no point in saying the title if it doesn't add anything (dialogue obviously has to be meaningful), IMO in this case it would have.
Meanwhile back on subject, and caring about house prices, well I do, but not for the sake of it, only as a means to an end. What I really care about is financial security, with an emphasis on retirement income.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

The only difference between us is that you care very much about house prices :rotfl: :money:
Yes I'm aware of the term. Don't see how it's relevant here because as I own a house(s) and maintain a mortgage for fun it should be clear that I'm not afraid of committing to more than 6 months at a time in the same house and I don't have a fear of debt.
I think my amateur psychological analysis is pretty much spot on if that's the best you can do. You're an interesting specimen that's for sure.
I suspect there are many differences between us - a disinterest in house prices is clearly not one of them. You use your interest to mask your irrational fear of debt, I'm interested because they will impact on whether I upsize, downsize or leave the country.0 -

I'm the same, everything I do is aimed at having as comfortable a retirement as possible. A major part of that is to have a mortgage free, energy efficient house and that's what I'm currently working towards.0 -

I think that's a great aim, certainly something I'm aiming for, I don't know why crashy doesn't have the same aim but that's his prerogative, what I don't fully understand is crashy's anger, annoyance and possible jealousy towards anyone with these goals.0 -

To be fair, I think the three things you highlight are largely circular. The anger and annoyance are fueled by the jealousy, and that viscious circle pretty much explains the rest.0 -

I'd just like to know what fuels that jealousy, he has all this cash, so surely he's capable of purchasing a property..... Maybe he's in too deep having rented for so long.0 -
Yeah, apart from all the indices showing prices are rising it's been really quite bearish
Same answer - I don't know and neither do you.
If 31/12/2014 is your latest peak I'm not going to argue because we won't know for a while.
My whole interest in this thread was 'peaked' because I think it's difficult to consistently predict house prices with any accuracy so was interested to see you come along full of confidence. I thought that confidence was misplaced and I've been proven correct. How's that confidence now you're 15 months rent in and £300k now buys you a 2 bed instead of a 3 bed in your area?
At least you haven't done as badly as Crashy - I get a little taste of sick in my mouth just imagining myself in his situation although I think his reason to be is more about being debt free rather than owning a house so I suppose, in his own way, he's been successful.
