I made my claim for ESA in February 2013. I received the ESA50 in May 2013 to be sent back by July 2013. I sent it back on time.

I finally had an assessment in June 2014.

It was 70 weeks from form to assessment. The backpay when I was put into the support group was very nice though!

I'm close to 13 weeks and still nothing. The only one good thing is that doctor doesn't make me come in every time I need a new sick note. I just have to phone the receptionist and tell them when I need it from.

Would really like this all resolved and behind me by now, 13 weeks is long enough to pull your finger out your !!!!!

You're only just coming towards the end of phase one of ESA. You have a very long time to wait for your assessment i'm afraid. The back log for ESA assessments is 1 year + at the moment. If you get put into one of the groups tho your money will be back dated to week 14.

I applied end of November last year (2013), only had my decision about a month ago without medical due to a very helpful letter from my doctor, otherwise I'd probably still be waiting. Support group for 12 months.

Initial application the decision was made on was for chronic depression and some anxiety. I now have a diagnosis of bipolar type II, anxiety agoraphobia and insomnia so reassessment will be interesting when they get round to it!

Your first 2 notes can be for no more than 3 months each. After that, the GP can make it for as long as s/he likes.

I did not pay NI on my low income so I recieved the Income related part of esa only based on now having a low income. Some people qualify for this and the other part of ESA.

That's not quite right, hmf, and I do not want to raise the OP's hopes up. You can either receive contributions-based or income-related ESA. They both are worth the same money-wise.

For some reason today I've been paid roughly £30 more than normal. I've had no letters or texts (which I usually get a few days after I've sent in my sick note, acknowledging they've received it) could this be a sign they've accepted my claim? If so, wouldn't the back pay also be sent on my "pay day"? (not that it'll be much as I'm only a few weeks over the 13 week waiting period) Or will that come a few days/weeks later?

Appreciate all the help thus far.

Sounds like they've put you into the WRAG group and not the support group. They will pay you any back pay separately to your usual pay. You could ring and ask which group but it does sound like the Work Related Activity Group (WRAG).
