...... and in all fairness, I've had 2 of my kids have "little accidents" in their beds when going through potty training and neither ever did enough to soak right through the mattress and into the bed below, so I'd say it sounds like your friend had more of a complete release than a little accident !!0

OP should buy the friend an adult nappy, see if the message gets across.0 -
I think the mattress is probably beyond saving and you'll need a new one. However the situation is complicated. Imagine from your friend's point of view, she is probably mortified with embarrassment and hoping you'll never find out or mention her accident. So while I agree that the friend should cover the cost of replacing the mattress, it's a question of how you think she will react and whether you are prepared to upset her if you decide to ask her to pay. I'd be tempted just to buy the new mattress myself, never mention it to the friend and try to forget all about it.0

Embarrassing it may be, but you can't just wee in someone's bed and hope they won't notice.0

Could you claim on your home insurance and ask your friend to pay the excess? (If you have accidental damage):heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

(The springs are generally anti rust treated so if you do it and dry it reasonably quickly it should be OK and if not then its no more a write off than it is now anyway!).
With a garden that would be relatively easy - prop it up on bricks or chairs and run a hose through the relevant part trying to keep the water running through just the affected part as much as possible. It will spread a bit but probably only to the extent the urine did in the first place. No need to soak the whole mattress.
Without a garden and assuming its not a single bed you can lie over the bath, you'll have to improvise a bit. Build some towers of books, juice cartons etc to enable you to lie it flat raised off the floor. Stick a shower curtain or tarpaulin to catch anything that really spreads, and then get a cheap kids paddling pool - biggest you can afford within reason (you can get blow up ones for a couple of quid usually) to put under the affected area to catch the water as you run it though. Once you've soaped it and rinsed it, and its stopped dripping, remove the pool and blow warm air underneath from a fan heater. With a bit of luck that might be enough to get rid of the smell. Simply cleaning the surface won't get rid of what is inside. Unfortunately there is a risk that you'll set off rust in the springs, but I reckon no more so that from the urine already in it.
You need to read your post back to yourself.
Putting a single bed mattress over a bath? A bath is 1700mm long and a mattress 2100mm long. Not sure howbig you think most peoples bathrooms are.

Good morning!
So a friend of mine had a little 'accident' on my bed, which I didn't discover for 2 days!
She initially said it was water, and then claimed it was juice, however, in one certain spot I can smell a strong stench of urine!
I believe she attempted to clean it with water which is why it spread. I then lifted the mattress to find that it soaked straight through the mattress protector, the mattress through both sides AND the actual bed!!!!! Understandably I am absolutely furious she didn't tell me as it's easier to fix the problem when it's 'fresh' but unfortunately it's been left to linger!
So far I have tried a dish soap and baking soda solution, febreze, a sprinkling of baking soda, and an upholstery cleaner. The smell is still there and I have slept on the couch for far too long now!
I am now thinking of either hiring a rug doctor, buying my own steam cleaner, or as a last resort having a professional clean it (but it's very expensive!)
I have also purchased a Pet Disinfectant over a carpet cleaner, as it claims to be anti fungal, anti viral and anti bacterial
Unfortunately I don't have a garden so this would all have to be done inside, and buying a new mattress would literally have to be the final resort as it's a VERY expensive bed and mattress!
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
You need a new friend.

Simple Solution (from Pets at Home) removes most of the smell of pet urine from carpet, so the animal doesn't re-mark on that spot. It is also supposed to remove stains, but I think this is if the stain is fresh and not dried in.0
