Hah!
Some do. A very few, and to claim that it is high paid is not right on average. As above, pay afterwards, on aggregate, is low. The majority will be on middling to low pay, it's one in a thousand who go on to riches as a big name star, or by owning a production company.0 -

They don't exist under that name but the institutions are still there.0 -

OP said that he has got Ds and Us in his A levels second time round.
the lazy brother wants to take them for a third time0 -
But if he has any idea why he failed (for example getting distracted by his computer games was mentioned by the OP) he could try and address this. Otherwise there doesn't seem much sense in re taking them.0

If he failed twice, why does he think he will pass on the third time, he needs a reality check
Does he contribute to the household in any way financially, if not I would suggest that the head of the household asks him to pay something of move out, simples0 -

Looks like you're more likely to have a job with media studies but at the lowest average pay.
Yes but that poll doesn't say if they're in the media industry or not... it's true a lot of media graduates go into other industries. I did a Media and TV Production degree. I'm working in TV but know others who aren't and know others who are in media related industries.
Linking this media and the original subject. The OP's brother sounds very similar my brother when he was younger! Wouldn't get a job during A Levels, didn't do as well in his A Levels as he thought, but did manage to get into a uni (Media related degree). When he left uni he went back home, eventually got a job, then after a while my mum practically forced him to move out. He's now independent and successful.
A bit of tolerance, then a bit of being firm works well. Give him some time, then in a few weeks your mum should tell him 'start paying me rent from xx date' and then see if he can get a job! Or at least start looking for a job!0 -
I think you should back off a bit. He may be extremely frustrating, but at the end of the day he is only 19. Ultimately he has to make his own choices in life and it sounds like he does not yet know what he wants to do.
I don't think it is reasonable to criticise him for not applying for a year's paid work experience when he has no interest in the job - particularly since that would interfere with going to uni.
His results will hopefully be a kick up the backside for him, if he wants to go to uni. But he is the only one who can do the kicking. Patience is required. You cannot control him, so you should not try as it will only end it tears.0
