I am wondering why threads regarding serious issues are deleted?

Many of the topics on here, are whinges (like this!) or rants, but when an actual interesting one where folk could learn something, comes along - it is wiped? :undecided:undecided:undecided

There are rules. When they are broken, threads are removed.

I don't agree. Threads and posts have been vanishing regularly for a while now, so I rarely post on here these days. There are currently both a lot of trolls and a lot of people jumping to the conclusion that new people are trolls and reporting them. A combination of the two means that many threads have been removed unnecessarily, many without having broken any rules that I can see.
    . . .I did not speak out

    Then they came for me
And there was no one left
    To speak out for me..

I don't know which the OP referred to, but two within the last week were one in which the OP was concerned about a family member's refusal to see a doctor having previously suffered a serious illness with similar symptoms and one in which the OP had found cannabis in her son's bedroom.

The 14 year old smoking cannabis one has gone.

Isn't it because the OP request it to be removed when they feel they are being unfairly attacked?

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^This! exactly what I was going to say. There is a group of, or one malicious person with multiple usernames, who is calling troll on any new poster or anyone posting with serious problems.

The OP of that thread was being very aggressive from the start in their replies and more than a little bit paranoid about posts that didn't agree with her. It's probably just as well the thread was removed as they had a fixed idea in mind and weren't going to listen to anybody even when they'd asked for advice.

    I stand corrected.
  • Ah yes, I remember those two. Could be because the OP asked for it to be deleted, or maybe someone deemed it inappropriate, like they were asking for medical advice (even though they weren't really) which isn't allowed, or what meritaten said....that's a possibility.
