    Thanks Z, I have no idea about tax. The account is hers and I'm a signatory on there and the cheque was made payable to me. How do I get a tax return for her? It's very confusing.

    Since when did cheques start clearing in the middle of the afternoon????
    Just checked the internet banking after doing the food shop and saw that the £250 from my mum has cleared!!!!

    When I worked in a bank all those years ago the rule was that they had until 12 o'clock on the day after it was debited from the account holder's bank to return it . So after that time it couldn't be 'bounced' so would be clear in your account IYSWIM.HTH

    She's got more money than me but not that much... thanks Z, will print that form off and get it sorted. It's only £40 but it's her money so will get it back for her.

    IA - I need your help. You remember that fab budget sheet you sent me? Well I added some rows and now it won't add up... if I email it to you, can you mend it for me? I am hopeless with excel, one thing I really must learn one of these days..xx
