IA - need your help..... as you know I'm moving into my own place with DD on Saturday (eek) now I've budgeted for food @ £100 per month, but at the moment I only have £50 to spend on a months supply of food.... now I know you're good at this so thought could help out with ideas. Oh and it needs to healthy for me and suitable for a 2yr old. I have no inspiration whatsover and am dreading it.... x
ok.... give me 15 mins to come up with a plan and do a virtual tesco shop and I'll be back.. is your 2yr old in nappies still?

Yes she is, only just turned 2. I've got 80+ pampers nappies as bought them a week or so ago when they were £8. Got plenty of shampoo/shower gel etc also, it's really just food.

I was thinking of making some spag bol with quorn mince (good for the diet) but don't know if I can freeze it once cooked? I have a few bits here I could use, will get a list and be back in a mo xx

    Stuff I've got...

2 boxes of sage & onion Paxo
Jar of Classic Chasseur - Chicken Tonight
    Uncle Ben's Cantonese sauce
    Black Bean stir fry sauce
    Dolmio red lasagne sauce
    500g bag of pasta
    Tin of condensed milk...??
Half a packet of easy cook rice
    Various spices....

This excludes savings from multi-save offers. Don't worry, they'll be taken off your final bill from your driver.

    Meal plan..

Lasagne (lasagne sheets, mince, cheese and lasagne sauces)
Chili con carne (mince, chopped tomatoes, carrots, tomato puree, chili powder served with rice)
Spaghetti bolognaise(same as chili con carne without the chili powder and with spaghetti instead of rice)
    Tuna mayo sweetcorn pasta
Sausage casserole (sausages, veg, chopped potatoes with casserole mix)
    sausages chips and beans
Roast dinner with chicken and veg (whole chicken with veg and roast potatoes using chicken stock)
    Beef stir fry
    broccoli and cauliflower cheese
    steak and chips
roast turkey with mash and peas
Jacket potatoes with cheese and beans

Then that extra £10 should do for anything essential such as bread milk etc...

    Hope that helps a bit...

  • oh and I freeze everything if it doesn't get eaten.. lol. Not had any problems so far! We put an extra toddler size portion aside and put it in the fridge if it's going to be eaten within a day or the freezer if not...

  • Thats a brilliant meal plan and shopping list.I wish you had put it on sooner.Im crap at shopping have been to Asda today and spent £36, will only last a few days and still need loads of stuff, I think il copy it too they are all things my family like but I just cant seem to pull it together, I am tempted by "special offers" too much.I think il try internet shopping I just always feel like il miss out if I dont go out shopping.I suppose im still trying to get used to all this mse, im much better than I used to be but there is still room for improvement.
