Could this be a full house rewiring?

hello everyone,

I am buying a property and i would like your opinion on the wiring. It seems like the house has been fully rewired but i have my doubts due to the fact that part of the old consumer box is still there but i think that is only the meter. Also all of the switches have been changed around the house. Take a look on the pictures below.

I just tried posting the pictures but i am not allowed, well there is a new consumer box from which two wires run to the old meter (so the part remaining from the old consumer box is only the meter). Then two wires run from the meter to the service head which seems to be new (100A). Also a green/yellow (ground) rund from the consumer box to the service head. Then there is one big black wire running from the service head into the wall. Also the wires running out the consumer box are not visile they are hidden with in the wall.

So keeping the old meter does not mean the house is partiallly wired right?

If you paste the link for the photgraphs in but put a space where the .com should be to break the link. One of us will fix it for you so everyone can see.

well you have confused me lol ....better with photo's ...put it in photobucket or something....rule of thumb for me...is grey wires are good sign....dodgy looking methods of wiring are bad nevermind the colour of wire lol

I have bought houses with many different types of wiring...including material/paper, lead and rubber. I find a rewire is not really a big prob.

    Hi Op,

The meter is nothing to do with you, nor is the Main Fuse 100A cutout. They are property of the electricity supplier.

Your services start at the consumer unit, or the seperate main switch isolator if you had one.

well they have re-plastered near the armour cable coming in....prob just to tidy it up.

Wires must be all behind the consumer unit. nothing you have shown photo's of has rung alarm bells with me.

What makes you think its not ??? lol

I am new to this, so when i saw the old meter i thought it may not have been fully rewired.

Another question, when you see a new consumer box does it mean that it has been fully rewired?

or.... when the sockets and switches have been changed does this mean fully rewired?

    copper pipe is too close

and i was wondering.....what is that copper pipe doing there and what is it exactly? above is only a room.

Could it be a pipe coming from the boiler upstairs down to the gas fire place which is inside the same room as the consumer box?
