flight delayed 30 hours

Hi all just got back from palma . Was supposed to fly with thompson but after 23 hours delay and no sign of us leaving decided to get a flight with someone else . Any one know how to go about claiming from thompson . My flights were booked one way from palma to glasgow.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :heart2:

did thompson recommend you take a different flight with a different company?
the only thing i can think of is by using your travel insurance, and see what compo you can get from delayed flights.... as the flight wasn't cancelled, its a tricky one really to see if you'll get anything back there.. .

thompson didnt recomend it. Just all that time in an airport with two small kids was a nightmare !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My dh had to get to work as he had already missed one day due to the delay. So we just took any flight going to the uk (ended up in manchester).
Not sure if my fellow passangers have made it home or if the flight was cancelled .The screens showed cancelled but tompsons said the screens were wrong. After all that time with no information:mad: or misleading information :mad: we didnt trust it to be the truth so we just booked with another company.

Will check my travel insurance.

if the screen said cancelled, you could claim that no one said anything, so you read the screen, and got alternative transport....

Most airport desks have printers to print boarding cards, perhaps they should print off a cancellation notice using these printers for every passenger so passengers know exactly when a flight has been cancelled.

Nobody told us anything the whole time we were there !

It just so happened it was the main supervisors day off lol :rotfl: :rotfl:

Compensation - Rights for air passengers

Laws that came into effect in February are a boon for travellers whose flights have been delayed, cancelled or overbooked. Since February, if your flight to or from a European airport on a European airline is cancelled or overbooked, and it is the airline's fault, you should be in line for compensation unless the problem is caused by exceptional circumstances outside the airline's control. The legislation extends passengers' rights introduced in 1991, upping the general level of compensation and including domestic and charter flights.
What are you entitled to?

If your flight is delayed, you are entitled to free refreshments, two phone calls and, if necessary, overnight accommodation, but how much you will get depends not on how much your ticket cost, but on how far you were going and how badly you were inconvenienced.
Know your distances

For flights less than 1,500km (935 miles) - this covers the most popular city break destinations, eg, Heathrow to Dublin, Amsterdam, Paris, Prague, Warsaw - approximately £170 (€250) compensation will be paid for flights which have been cancelled, or where you have been bumped off the plane because the airline overbooked. If your flight is delayed more than two hours, you are entitled to meals, refreshments, hotel accommodation where necessary and phone calls. If the delay exceeds five hours, or the flight has been cancelled or overbooked, you are also entitled to a full refund and a free flight back to your point of departure.
For flights between 1,500 and 3,500km (935 miles and 2,215 miles) - Heathrow to Athens, Madrid, Helsinki, Istanbul, Rome, Moscow for example - expect around £275 (€400) if your flight is cancelled or overbooked. If your flight is delayed by more than three hours, you are entitled to refreshments, hotel accommodation and phone calls. If the delay exceeds five hours, or the flight has been cancelled or overbooked, you are also entitled to a full refund and a free flight back to your point of departure.
