Thomson holiday Jet 2 flights-being ripped off

To the OP, Thomson do charge to guarantee your seats together at time of booking. Otherwise you take your chance and see what you get allocated at check in.
Its the same as jet2, although the jet2 check in does appear to give random seats. I'd suggest arriving nice and early to check in and asking politely if there's anything they can do.0 -
Just to make everyone aware of this- I booked a holiday for my husband and myself and my mother. Booked through Thomsons months ago. Right after I booked I realisedI hadn't been offered meals- then I realised it was Jet 2 flights! I got in touch with Thomson immediately- yes they could change us to Thomson flights- at a cost of £100 each!! Obviously we didn't change and we thought we would be ok with Jet2.
Check-in opened today and I went on to get checked in and to book our seats together. Jet 2 want £10 each from us to reserve our seat! (not extra leg room- just normal seats) The seats they have given is have us separated, despite there being at least a dozen blocks of 3 seats together on that flight still available!! I have tried calling them- on the phone for over 21 minutes at 10p per minute with no answer from them. I am absolutely furious and I feel completely helpless
Personally i'd choose Jet2 over Thomson every time and if I wasn't prepared to pay for seats I wouldn't check in online i'd go to the airport early and ask Please can we sit together.0 -
Why do people find it vital to eat and drink when they step onto a plane for a short-haul flight???Turning left avoids some of the idiots (only some)0

If it makes you feel any better we've flown with Jet 2 for the last 4 years and the seats are more comfortable and with more leg room.
As for you predicament, I think they look at who is flying and then place them appropriately. As we have 2 young children, we have always been placed together- 3 in a row and 1 opposite. I think because you are three adults they probably save these for those willing to pay.
My suggestion would be, wait until you get on the flight- explain to the air cabin crew and see if there are any free seats together for you and your mother. The other thing is perhaps ask someone sitting next to one of the three of you if they would mind moving for the take-off and landing. Some people don't mind sitting apart!
I hope you are okay but I wouldn't waste your time on the phone as you probably won't get anywhere.
Hope this helps.0 -
OP, loo at it this way, you are saving money by flying with Jet2. You will also be getting a daytime flight, not a late night one with Thomson most likely. Jet2 like all their planes back at base before midnight, so they ae in place for the next days flights.
Also, I wouldn't worry about booking a meal on board with Jet2. They aren't fantastic meals, normally sausage and mash, beef stew or a breakfast. You get served about 20 minutes after takeoff so will have the other 5 hours flying twiddling your thumbs. Get a sandwich from the airport shops, have a meal in the terminal building, or do as we did once, get a breakfast in the airport, make a whopping big butty out of it, wrap it in tinfoil and take it on board with you. You will have all the rest of the passengers jealous, with the smell of hot bacon and egg wafting around the cabin !
Jet2 are great, so, so much better than Thomson.0 -

Is it correct that Jet2 have stripped out many of their extra leg room seats and that the seating pitch is now 28"? Or is that only on some of their aircraft? 28" is about as bad as it gets.0 -
We fly with Jet2 often, the seats are non reclinable, leather recaro type which increases the amount of leg room available, much better than most of the other package type airlines ( i bet the others follow suite over the next few years )
