Until we lived on the mainland we never locked the door. AND the car keys were left in the car in case anyone needed to borrow it......
Now we are back on the mainland we never lock the door but anyone coming to nick our telly would have a great time (and a hernia) lifting our old CRT0 -
I'd be annoyed if my stuff was in the house and therefore uninsured. Can your room be locked when not there?0

mama's house, her rules...it is crazy but sometimes you have to let ppl get on with it and learn things the hard way......0

I love my mum and dad too but I could not live with them. We all have ticks and habits which I am sure would rub other people up the wrong way.
Ok leaving the house unlocked is slightly different but ....while I would be annoyed it is your mums house so I think it will have to be a case of bear with it for now.Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0 -
Our doors are kept locked mostly so the young children don't escape though. I think you are right but as it's her house and she obviously isn't listening to your point then stop mentioning it. When you moved out will she moan she can't just walk into your house uninvited as doors are locked?Have a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0

I'm the opposite, I always leave my front door unlocked when someones home, and usually won't lock it if I'm just driving into town for something small (you can't open our door from the outside without a key, even if it hasn't been locked from the outside).
My mum constantly locks her door and even though her driveway has a gate, she still has to lock it and when I'm round there it drives me insane (though I never say anything to her).
My backdoor is also constantly unlocked as we leave our rabbits to roam the garden all day and if our washing is out, our elderly neighbour will drop our washing in the back door (we live in a very small middle of nowhere village).0 -
surely if you are in and robbed the insurance will still pay even if the door is unlocked. I rarely lock my front door, unless i am in the garden. Of course I do have a big dog, though he is a lurcher and so may or may not get up if someone comes in !We don't stop playing because we grow old; We grow old because we stop playing.0

Don't think insurance would be void if you're still in the house and robbed, would be if you left it unattended and unlocked though.0

Contents insurance is not void if you are burgled while you are in the property, doors locked or not.0

My front door is unlocked in the day time. It would drive me potty unlocking it, and locking it to pop to the bin/car/garage. My back door is often wide open too in order let the fresh air in. How do you feel about windows? Are they allowed to be open?"On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of."
