What's the deal?

T-Mobile has a number of promotions at the moment meaning you can get a free PAYG sim card, free credit plus free weekend texts.

  • Pay As You Go Customers Get Free Weekend Texts

To get free weekend texts simply sign up to its offer by texting FRIDAY to 441 or dialling 150 (will cost 25p/call) from your handset and asking customer services to sign you up. Then if you top-up your phone with £10 or more on a Friday any texts made on the following Saturday and Sunday are free. Obviously topping up your phone just to get the free texts isn't worth it - the key is to time your top-ups correctly.

    Terms and Conditions

If you are a pay as you go or U-Fix customer you must opt in before 16th October 2007 to get your 6 months of free weekend texts.

To get your free texts, successfully top up £10 or more in a single transaction before 23.59 on a Top Up Friday.

We will confirm when you have opted in, when you have successfully topped up and when your 6 months has run out.

You can use your free texts in the UK to UK mobile networks between 00.00 Saturday to 23.59 Sunday.

Subject to a fair use policy of 3000 texts in a weekend. If you exceed 3000 in a weekend, we will request that you reduce any future use. If you continue to use more than 3000 texts a weekend, T-Mobile may permanently remove Top Up Friday from you.

If you have a Mates Rates 5 day pass and you text a T-Mobile mate, Top Up Friday texts will be used first.

If you are a U-Fix customer, you will lose Top Up Friday if you migrate to a price plan outside the U-Fix group of price plans.
  • Get a free T-mobile Pay-As-You-Go sim card (so anyone can use the free texts deal)
Simply go to T-Mobile Sim Giveaway* and fill in your details to get your two free sim cards. Sim cards will be delivered in 28 days or sooner.

To start using your sim card put it into any unlocked handset and activate by topping up with £5 or more. For info on how to unlock your handset read Mobile Unlocking: Unlock The Savings.

You can choose from 3 different price plans:

Everyone - 12p/min flat rate.
Mates rates - 5p/min an 5p/text for mates on T-Mobile.
Text Appeal - 3p texts to any network.

Though from 30 July prices will be:

Everyone - 15p/min flat rate.
Mates rates - 8p/min an 5p/text for mates on T-Mobile.
Text Appeal - won't be changing.

Dial 146 when you've got your sim to choose your price plan.
  • Get free credit on T-mobile PAYG phones

To get your £2.50 free credit simply sign up to My T-Mobile for the first time between 2 and 27 July. Credit will be automatically added within 28 days of registration. This credit can be used on texts, calls and picture messages but not for calling premium numbers or any other non-standard services. The credit only lasts 30 days
Do let me know how it goes :)

Note that T-Mobile are about to increase their prices on the Everyone and Mates Rates tariffs:
We're currently updating our pay as you go plans and will be making a few changes to some of your charges from 30th July 2007.

    see here for more details.

also they are 'simplifying' the cost of browsing the internet:
From 26th September we're making the cost of browsing the whole Internet on your phone with web'n'walk simpler. Rather than pay for the amount you download until you spend £1, there will be a simple daily fee of £1 which gives you 24 hours unlimited browsing.

i.e. if you simply want to check your e-mail, it will cost £1 from September, compared to a few pence now!

  • I think the texts are free for all weekends in the six month period reading the terms and conditions. I dont think you have to top up every Friday, just on one Friday. As stated below you get 6 months of free weekend texts.

  • Hi Richard,

You only get the free texts on the weekend following the top up, so you have to top up each Friday you want free weekend texts. The offer will last for six months from when you signed up and you have to sign up before 16 October 2007.

I ordered the free sims early this morning before I saw this thread, but I don't know if it is as good as they are making out as I also read this on the site.

    * Our calling costs for new and existing customers are changing from the 30th July 2007:
    • On Mates Rates, it will cost 8p a minute to call other T-Mobile customers
    • On Everyone, it will cost 15p a minute to call any UK network at any time
Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...

or go to vodafone spend 2.50 a week and get free weekend texts = 7.50 saving, texts and voice pack are calculated at the standard rate not the discounted bundle, Make calls at 15p a minute with a pack of 100 Anytime minutes for just £15 but each minute calculates at 30p a minute as per the standard rate = 3 x 3 minute calls daytime, thats 9 minutes from your 100 30 day voice pack give you free weekend texts, so 40.00 a month on T-mobile or 15.00 on Vodafone ???? + Stop the Clock = better then what 10.00 per week will last on T-mobile
    Its a no brainer ;)

T - mobile Flext 35 is a leader but T mob payg certainly isnt !

also considering the 28 days to get your sims : To get your £2.50 free credit simply sign up to My T-Mobile for the first time between 2 and 27 July

they have made sure this does not overlap, so its a free sim or a free 2.50 credit nobody with get both unfortunatly

the price changes on payg are a UK first : x net mins going up
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

Heres the full T&C again,it does not suggest you have to top every Friday to qualify.Very confusing.

    T&C are :

Just a quick note. If you sign up to the website for your £2.50, it won't show up as part of your normal phone credit.

I am already a T-mobile customer and when you phone 150 (to get your balance) you'll get your credit, then it'll tell you what your price plan is and finally it'll tell you what your total monetary allowance is - this allowance is where the £2.50 will be.

    Hope this helps
Always on the look out for a bargain. :smileyhea Thanks if you've helped me bag one.

Very clever of T-Mobile to make this 'free offer'. By the time you receive your SIM cards the prices quoted for calls and mobile browsing will increase!!

I use the Vodafone with free weekends and stop the clock too!
I top up £15 online at vodafone and they give you an extra 10% of your top up. I buy bundles of minutes and texts. I then TEXT LIKE MAD to catch up with my mates over the weekend and I seem to get quite good value for money from my set up.
I also found out the if you are on Vodafone and fancy a new phone, Vodafone will knock a tenna off the handset price if you trade your old one in against it with the charger - and it can be the oldest naffest phone going, you will still get £10 off.
I do not know if this helps anyone, it is just from my own experience using vodafone.

Take Care, everyone, and wish me luck for my surgery next month,

    Merri x
Today is a good day :T
