Good transfer window for us - managed to keep Williams & Bony, which is a massive boost. Still think someone will come in for Bony in January though.

Managed to clear out a chunk of deadwood over last couple of weeks & brought in some brilliant talent - particularly Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Agree with the comments about deadline extensions though - Swans signed 2 players a few years ago & submitted the docs before the deadline. FA cocked them up & as a result they couldn't play for us until January because FIFA refused international clearance (Darnel Situ & Rafik Halliche). There's a rule for the 'big' clubs and a rule for everyone else.

And Arsenal were given 2 extra hours to sign Welbeck - Why?

Maybe they had to wait for the thumbs up that the Falcao deal would go through. My guessing it was all done mid-afternoon and Sky said wait until we announce it last gasp for the drama!

It certainly is a big change!
Love all, trust a few. Do wrong to none.

An eye for an eye only leads to more blindness.
  • Deal sheet needs to be in before 11pm, as long as it is clubs get an extention to get the paperwork together, this has being the case for the past few years which is why you get the deals up until the early hours.

That and no doubt held back to add to the "drama"

Now that it's all over can you name your 25 man squads and let us football league clubs fight over you cast offs ;)

This is where the real fun starts :rotfl:

Think it can be different when signing from abroad? Our little brothers (Sheff Yoonited) had an issue with this, signed two players from Scotland (countered as a foreign loan) but had to meet the Scottish deadline rather than the English one which was an hour before, Fa wouldn't sanction it and a "possible broken fax machine" was sighted as also being involved - something along those lines anyway.

I supposed with the massive transfer fees involved the clubs are given a chance to move money around (Man U poss needing the welbeck funds to pay for Falcao

Agree with !!!! ups though, only the big clubs would still get that sanctioned

What's with all this Fax machine malarky? Haven't they heard of the 21st century? I'm surprised they don't send latin script on slate sent via horesman.

Let's just say it's become a bit of an "in" joke for both Sheffield teams message boards and fans in general.

Now the cynical ones of us would suggest it's an excuse :D

First incident was for Wednesday (must be nearly 10 years ago now) when the then Chairman claimed we had faxed a bid to Luton for Steve Howard and we had "tried our very best on deadline day" to get him.

More recently with the blunts they tried to claim issues with the fax machine meant paperwork didn't get to the Scottish Fa in time to sign a couple of players before the deadline and the. FA refused to sanction as an exceptional circumstance, very funny from this side of the City as they had sold a couple of players and these two were supposed to replace them.

  • Someone forgot to put 10 bob on't meter so leccy went out ;)

In all honesty it's always a tumbleweed moment on transfer day at Bramall Lane, we tend to rely more on the loan market these days. I was expecting to lose another player (Jamie Murphy to Leeds) so every cloud and all that.
