Hi, PP - the meal was lovely thank you. In total the evening cost me £30 and it was worth every penny
I've had one sale today worth £10 so that's a positive!
Nothing much else to say really. I'm having some peace and quiet tonight. BF's gone to pick up his son for a couple of days. I love my BF to bits, but quiet time is nice too
I had a message from Eb*y to say that its free listing for a few days so this weekend listing is a priority - not for the business just personal stuff.
Christmas is coming and I have absolutely no savings whatsoever!
I hope everyone else had a good day x1st card to go - Aq*a - [STRIKE]£1,600[/STRIKE]/ £1,596.990 -

What are your plans to get through Christmas - are you trying to raise some extra cash before then?
Every year I tried to save money for Christmas but never had enough so a lot of it was slapped on credit card. I over-spent as well, spoiled my children too much. This year I have no 'spending' credit card so I am breaking new ground for me at Christmas.
For the past few years I have done the Sealed Pot Challenge and although there's not often a huge amount in there, even that 150 quid or so comes in very very handy at Christmas - actual cash that's not coming out of a bank account or credit card. I recommend it.
To get me through Christmas this year I intend to:- Get a second job - a temporary Christmas job, probably in a shop
- Do a car boot sale to sell off lots of winter clothes (mostly kids' stuff)
- Keep on selling stuff on ebay (don't sell much but it all adds up)
- Keep adding to my sealed pot here and there
- Budget properly and spend less - the kids are old enough now not to need so much STUFF

Hi 'npp', been following your diary.
Another way of bulking up your mince is loads of grated carrot. It adds a good taste to it too.
I was given this tip years ago, when my kids were little, and didn't have much money. It really works, and I've done it ever since, with spag bol too. Look forward to the rest of your diary.

Hello, I'm back! I can't quite believe how fast time seems to fly past these days. Its so busy at work, its like tomorrow its Monday then all of a sudden its Friday again
I'm still plodding along with my moneysaving, its not going brilliantly but I'm doing ok I suppose.
Thank you for all your helpful ideas about Christmas Peaceandfreedom. I'd love to be able to get a temporary job over Christmas but unfortunately there aren't enough hours in the day and also in order to get to any shops that are likely to need extra staff over Christmas, I'd need to drive for an hour - another of the pros and cons of living in the middle of nowhere.
Eb*y sales have really slowed down this month, but from reading some of the threads on the Eb*y forum, it seems to be similar for everyone. I've managed to scrape together enough to buy some new stock and I'm hoping this new stuff will help me pay for Christmas.
There's a lovely aroma coming from the kitchen - tonight's tea is simmering away. I had a pack of chicken breasts, tinned tomatoes, two red onions and some stock so I've thrown them all in a pot and they've been bubbling away for a couple of hours. When BF comes home I'll cook some pasta and sprinkle some cheese on top...lovely
I'll need to go and pick up my mum in a little while - she has tea with us on Sundays.
The temperature here is still very mild. We don't have any heating on and haven't lit the log burner yet! My target is to get to October without any heating, which is quite a feat where we live!
I've been too afraid to open the windows today after reading on DM online that we're about to be overrun by giant, bad tempered spiders.........that'll teach me to read the DM :rotfl:1st card to go - Aq*a - [STRIKE]£1,600[/STRIKE]/ £1,596.990 -

Good luck with all your money-raising efforts. I've done a tiny bit of ebay selling lately and you are right that things are very slow. As a buyer, I have noticed very high postage fees which has put me off buying things - I am guessing that people have put postage up to account for the fees ebay now take from them. Sooner or later, a decent alternative to ebay might crop up.newpennypincher wrote: »I've been too afraid to open the windows today after reading on DM online that we're about to be overrun by giant, bad tempered spiders.........that'll teach me to read the DM :rotfl:
I don't know about giant spiders but we have certainly The Invasion of the Daddy-Long-Legs - they are everywhere!0 -

Ooh, I second this and would say that I've also added grated onion and mushrooms to the mix. When it all cooks down you don't really know it's there. Some tinned tomatoes and spices makes it into a really nice base for spaghetti too.0 -
good luck NPP! Enjoyed reading your diary so far.
Have a look into consumer pulse, great for earning High Street Vouchers - could also help with Christmas. I've used it on/off since last April and cashed out £90 - I don't do it nearly as regularly as I should!Debt at LBM (Sept2014)Loan: £4,657.79 CC1: £2,563.19 CC2: £1,825.00:mad: TOTAL: £9,045.98 :mad:Debt (Current)Loan: £4,438.33 CC1: £1,082.38 CC2: £1,800.00 (0%) CC3: £1,446.38TOTAL: £8,767.090 -
Morning!
I got up extra early today so I've made my lunch and put my washing out to dry. I don't think the weather's decided what its going to do yet though, its quite misty here.
I have turkey and tomato sandwiches for lunch. I thought I got a bargain yesterday with a pack of cooked turkey but when I opened it, it was only enough for one lot of sandwiches - not such a bargain!
Thanks KM, I need to get back to doing surveys. I got to a voucher twice with Tolu*a but it just takes me so long. Mind you when I'm sitting watching TV and there's nothing better to do, I may as well do a couple of surveys per night.
I had a look at Consumerpulse Freckles, I think you have to be invited to join that one.
I never thought of grating mushrooms BB, I'll have to try that one. I have two extra mouths at dinner tonight, so any suggestions for something quick and easy will be much appreciated.
Peaceandfreedom - No daddy longlegs here yet, but I'm on the lookout for giant spiders!
Better go and get the crowbar, to get DS3 out of bed, today's his college day :rotfl:
