  • Good Morning :D

Thank you all for the lovely comments and replies, the support here is fantastic. I had a lovely lie-in this morning, I really didn't want to get up :o

I'll have to go out to mum's in a bit but I'm just sitting here watching rubbish telly at the moment. The weather's a bit rubbish here this morning - it feels quite autumnal. I've asked DS3 to keep an eye out for some logs for us. He got us a load of old fence posts last year and they kept us going for a couple of months.

We've been invited out to dinner next week with the people I used to work with before I changed jobs. BF and I used to work together so he'll be going too. If we go out we usually split the bill 50/50 but this isn't the cheapest place they could have chosen so it'll be about £25 each. I could do without the expense really, but I miss the old crowd so the catch-up will do us both good.

I've taken two trout (is the plural of trout trouts or trout? I'm not sure) out of the freezer and would be grateful for any recipe tips to make them taste less "fishy". I love seafood but not so keen on fish :o

I've had another sale this morning so here's hoping the rubbish weather keeps everyone indoors buying lovely stuff on Eb*y.

  • Miserable weather here too! :(

I quite like fish so maybe not the best person to advise on making it less fishy... but lashings of white wine are generally delicious with any fish! Maybe not a very MSE suggestion though!

Fish pie always cheap and good... flour/milk/butter white sauce, few peas and a bit of mashed potato on top? :)

  • Have you tried a tomato based sauce? maybe spicy to take away from the fishyness? My mum does fish pie with tinned toms and onio.bs instead of a white sauce

  • We didn't have the fish tonight, it hadn't defrosted properly so I have that to look forward to tomorrow :D

I've had a fairly productive day today, I checked my online banking and found that my wages have gone in early to I have paid all my bills tonight.

    Things achieved today:-

    1. Went to mum's and did some cleaning.
    2. Did all my ironing.
    3. Did a load of washing.
    4. Found house and contents insurance for £106.00 (including legal cover).
    5. Wrapped four Eb*y parcels ready for posting tomorrow.
    6. Did all my calculations for the month.

Eb*y brought in £40 this weekend for which I am very grateful. This leaves me with a surplus of £202.67 this month. I have a car full of fuel that shouldn't need topping up for at least two weeks. All I need now is willpower!

If I could finish this month with at least £100.00 I will be very happy. Any extra will be a bonus and any overpayments I can make this month will be directed towards my Debenha*s card.

  • Back to work today after ten days off. I've read newspaper articles by lottery winners who say they'd be bored at home and therefore keep working - well, I'd be quite happy at home and would find plenty to occupy me, but unfortunately I have to go to back :D

I'm dreading that first look at my desk when I get through the door because I'm sure it'll be piled high with files and things that need doing "asap".

I've made my own lunch, I'm having ham and tomato sandwiches and a fat free yogurt so that's about £3.00 saved at least!

I have four parcels to post and a letter for DS3 who came over late last night. Also had a call from DS1 to tell me he and his GF will be here tomorrow and will be staying over. He lives in Cardiff so I don't get to see him as often as I'd like.

I've checked my online banking and no surprises yet this morning. I cancelled the mobile phone contract I've been paying for DS3 last night which saves me £22.42 each month. He's working now and is paying for his own mobile.

No sales as yet this morning :(

Better go and finish my coffee. I need to get started a bit earlier today as I have to order some repeat prescriptions for mum and me on the way to work. I really should go to the doctors myself, my migraines are getting worse and more frequent but I hate going since dad got ill. No offence to any doctors, we have some lovely ones but they know I don't like going cos I've told them :D

Here's to a brilliant MSE day and lets hope this short week flies past like they usually do x

  • Where does the time go? Its been four days since my past post :o

I've been back at work since Tuesday and it feels like I've never been away! One good thing about being so busy is that time passes really quickly and then its the weekend again!

Just transferred £30 from paypal but my cash is down to about £100 already - I forgot about the TV Licence

I've feeling really lazy today. My brother is up with my mum today so I'm having a day where I don't have to go anywhere - heaven!

    Jobs done today:-

    1. Done the washing.
    2. Emptied and refilled the clothes horse.
    3. Filled the dishwasher.
    4. Tidied up the bedroom.

I might even push the boat out and have a bath later :D

No sales yet today, but its early yet.

I was reading an article in the DM yesterday about a lady who wins loads of cool stuff in competitions. I've never won a competition in my life, but I've decided to have a go. I'm going to set up a new email address otherwise I'll be swamped with junk mail and try to enter as many as possible every day.

I'll keep you posted IF I manage to win anything.

I hope everyone is having a good day x

  • Hello! I've very happy today - I have three loads of washing drying nicely outside in the sun :j

I was extremely lazy this morning, I didn't wake up until 11.30! I woke up when BF went to work and the next thing I knew it was 11.30  .

We hadn't been out or anything, so I must have needed my sleep! I then got up and had left-over Chinese takeaway for breakfast - never done that before :rotfl:

We caved yesterday and had a takeaway for dinner which was lovely.

Today, so far I have done three loads of washing, hoovered, cleaned the kitchen floor and coloured my hair, so in my book, I may have spent £12.00 last night on my share of the takeaway, BUT I have also saved myself about £60 by colouring my hair at home.

The only thing I need to do later is iron my work clothes as soon as they've dried. I also need to do my eyebrows. I'm not that good at doing those myself but it'll save me £15 if I do!

I don't know why but I'm feeling much more positive today. I don't know if that's attributable to the sunshine or to the good nights' (and half a day's!) sleep.

No sales today, only one small sale late on Friday which will be posted tomorrow lunchtime.

I entered about 70 competitions yesterday. The lady in the DM said she entered about 100 competitions a day. How she managed that I don't know! Haven't entered any today but I will try to enter a few later on after I've taken my mum home.

I'd better go, I have chicken in the over, I'll be back for another update later.

Hope everyone else is having a good Sunday!

  • Thanks for the tip Dawnybabes, I had a look last night and it looks quite fiddly, but I'll definitely have a go.

DS3 stayed here last night and this morning he's off to work away until Friday. BF kindly pointed out that he's not my baby any more, he's a young man, but any mam will tell you that the youngest will always be your baby!

I think I must be getting the MSE message at long last because I really don't feel like going out to dinner tonight. I just think the money would be better spent elsewhere.

I sold one more item last night which can go towards my meal tonight once all the costs have been taken out.

Nothing much else to report really - I just need to be strong at lunchtime and stay out of the coffee shop :D

    Have a good Monday!
