Vodaphone misselling me Data useage
Options
I have a contract with Vodaphone which gives me 2gb of data useage. I have used my phone the same since that start of my contract last year and always been charged the £38 of my contract or thereabouts.
This month they have sent me a bill of £112 claiming that my data useage has been the cause of the charges.
I contacted them to discuss the bill, They say I am responsible for keeping track of my data useage- fair enough, but i havent used it any different to previous months. They also sent me a text saying that i had 250mb left of my useage and I could purchase an extra 1gb for £6.50. I replied to the text accepting this and they supposedly applied it.
When phoning up to discuss the bill, Vodaphone says they dont understand why I got this text as they dont text people to let them know their data useage is almost up.
Where do I stand on appealing this bill as I feel something isnt right and certainly feel I have been mis sold the extra 1gb.

Did anyone take any money from your account?
Was it a text or an app that gave you the warning? What number did the text come from?
Set a data limit on the phone to warn you. Or download an app. I use then 3G watchdog app.
Ive never had warnings about being close to my data limit.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
It was a text and cant remember the number it came from. The charges are definatley from data useage and not from anything else like premium texts.
I will get an app to keep me right, thanks.0 -
How do you know Vodafone sent the text, and it wasn't a phishing attempt?
If you think you've been 'mis-sold' the £6.50, does that mean you actually paid somebody that amount? Who?0 -
I did pay the £6.50 yes...I dont have the text anymore to check on it.
Doesnt explain about my data being charged more when Ive been using it the same though? How do I check up upon this?0 -

He must have a lot of apps to use £112 worth of data!Certain OTT members have caused me to add this disclaimer: all advice given is free of charge & as such should be taken to be IIRC (as I don't spend hours researching all answers  )!0

Most modern phones let you monitor your data use, set warnings when you reach a certain level, or stop data use entirely.
Does your phone not tell you exactly what your usage pattern was?
How did you pay the £6.50? Not that you have much chance of getting back if you don't even know who you paid it too, just that you might have set yourself up in a way that allows them to take more.0 -

If you paid anything to Vodafone it should be on the bill as a credit to your account.
How did you pay the £6.50? If its card or on a bill it should be trackable.0 -
Vodafone are talking nonsense. Yes they do text you when you've nearly reached your allowance (not always, but they do) and yes you can text them for extra data.
It's even in the T&C's that they may text you when you are getting close to your limit0 -
the £6.50 was done via a text so i guess added to my phone bill?0
