DG, hope you find something you can afford.
jlhmd666, one of my newly fitted windows at work has cracked twice, same thing, the internal glass, the first time the window company claimed one of the students must have thrown something at it, they couldn't as the students don't spend time alone in my room. This time they claimed it was because I'd stuck blutac on the window, the crack is in a top window above the door, almost 7ft of the ground, I'm 4'11, so not very likely! Turns out the frame is twisted, that's why the glass keeps breaking.
Tru, I hope you manage a bike ride soon.
Hugs to Molly Elona, Hilly, Gers, TTFM & anyone else in need.
Fish fed, hubby & I have a cuppa, cheats roast dinner today, pork chop for hubby with roasties, yorkies & 3 veg from the garden, I'll just have the 'go withs'.
I have some ironing to do today & I may throw the vacuum cleaner around upstairs later.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.

Morning everyone from a very very windy west coast. No rain yet but the trees are taking a battering.

Thanks for your thoughts yesterday and this morning, it's always rather difficult though his four (adult) boys all sent messages. Three are in Australia where they all lived.

Donny-gal...was so surprised to read about you selling your place in Spain as I know how much you both enjoyed it. Being nearer your family is always the best reason. We moved back to Scotland last year after almost forty years in England because of my increasingly frail mother and am so very glad we did.

Had to put on the woodburner last night, just a wee nip in the air and think it'll need doing again tonight. Got the car packed with even more cardboard for the skip and there's another small amount to go before it's all cleared. Then I can get the car in the barn overnight again

No shopping today, reading will feature highly and probably some housework as we've got friends coming up for the English bank holiday next weekend. Am in a slight state of OMG'ness as I thought the long weekend was the one after that.

Off to fill up the bird feeders. Found a great little agricultural shop the other day and got good bargains on bird food, better than buying in drubs and drabs.

Hope everyone is coping, best wishes go out. Happy Sunday.

How would I check that the window was broken by external pressure please, Lily? The crack is on the inside pane but it looks like the crack is facing outwards rather than being on the side facing inwards if that makes sense ............

Hello jlhmd - I've heard of 'unexplained' cracks appearing in the internal pane of glass in double glazing before - but, personally speaking, I've not heard of an 'explanation' for it happening spontaneously ................ so, I've been a-googling and came up with this page - it's worth a read.

In this particular link, the crack was caused by a door being slammed - could something like that have happened when you all left the house to go on your holiday :undecided :(.

Very interesting that something similar has happened in Hester's case as well - but, of course, the double-glazing company will blame schoolkids rather than admit that 'their product' is faulty in any way. Obviously, Hester knows the kids in her school and the circumstances of how the crack was discovered - but, as far as the company is conerned, it's like the Americans would say 'Tell it to the Marines!'.

Hope your OH has recovered from his 'rant' this morning - must be awful for the entire family to come back home, only for an argument to kick off ((((hugs)))).
  • DANDY CANDY good luck for today, we'll be there with you in spirit so when you're feeling wobbly know you'll be wrapped round with our love and hugs and not on your own love, get through it and smile again, Lyn xxx.

Off to my hospital appointment shortly and having a bit of the collywobbles.

Sending you an extra HSbearhugblinkie1.gif for this afternoon.
  • Good morning everyone :)

Still stressed to bits so will keep it brief and not rant :o

Bed is stripped and all in the machine but it's raining at the moment, hopefully will stop before machine does. It's blowing a gale here so it may dry.

dandy-candy - hope all goes well with hospital appointment x

Camelot - don't bother with dried kaffir lime leaves, they don't taste of anything. We get ours fresh from an Asian shop, then freeze them flat. Or the big Chinese supermarket/cash & carry sells them frozen, thought they took some finding, we eventually gave up and asked! DH managed to get fresh pandan leaves in Manchester on Friday so we had some last night wrapped around chicken and now we are trying freezing the remainder.

Not so brief after all but no rants :D

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a lovely day.

Thanks TTFTM. I will get them! There is a Waitr0se not too far away, they could be a good source, otherwise I will look in an Asian supermarket next time I am in Glasgow.
Dandy - Thinking of you today.
Lily - Congrats on the arrival of your nephew, the choice of songs is lovely, quite emotional too.

Hi! I don't normally post in here, but thought I'd take the plunge and get to know some people :)

jlhmd666 - Sorry to hear about the window, what a horrible surprise to come home to, hope it turns out not to be too expensive to fix. Sorry about your friend too, sounds like you're being too kind and she's overreacting to you not doing what she expected.

Lilyplonk - Congratulations on the arrival! The songs for your mum sound wonderful.

donny-gal - Sounds like some big decisions to be made. I have to say I hated living even 2-3 hours away from my parents, I currently live under 2 hours away, hopefully one day I'll be even closer. It's so nice to be able to pop round just for the day! Sorry I don't have any ideas of places, but I'm sure it will be worth the compromises you'll make :)

dandy-candy - Hope the hospital appointment goes ok.

I'm utterly fed up of being at home today. On Thursday evening after a couple of days of agonising back pain I was diagnosed with a bladder & kidney infection. I started a course of antibiotics which has done a great job of stopping the back pain but unfortunately they make me feel sick and dizzy and give me a headache :( I missed work on Friday and decided to take today off as well because of the side effects of the antibiotics. I've only been working there a couple of weeks so I feel terribly guilty, but luckily they've been amazingly understanding. Tried to get an early night last night but the upstairs neighbours decided to get drunk and be noisy  and when I finally fell asleep they woke me up at 6am again by slamming all their doors! Due to take my last antibiotic with breakfast this morning so think I'll get that out of the way in a moment and hopefully go back to bed and sleep through the sickness. Hopefully then I can have a productive afternoon - fed up of not being able to clean the house!

Apologies for the rant! Hope everyone else has a good Sunday x
  • Morning all,

Raining here at the moment and I have stripped the bed and just re-made it with fresh linen. WM just finishing but whether I will be able to put it out remains to be seen.

I feel as stiff as a board this morning, I think it must be the damp weather.

dandy-candy good luck for today sending calming vibes.

    Dumpling how are you doing?

DGD and boyfriend came for lunch yesterday and then Himself took them home about 5, and later they were going clubbing. Oh the energy of the young :)

Have prepared lunch, and will shortly be going to see DD, and then this afternoon the task of peeling shallots ready for pickling. I have told Himself he has to help me, but he is as much as a wimp as I am. Never mind will be worth it at Chr......... with cold meats and chutney.

TTFTM every good wish for tomorrow, calming vibes.

    Have a good day everyone
