New mobile phone battery doesn't work !

Just thought I'd mention it as I've had a couple of devices now where replacing the battery has done absolutely nothing. In my case I suspect either the charger circuit or the socket where the lead enters the phone has broken. You could put a multimeter across the battery connections to see how the voltage compares with the old one, but it sounds like the battery is at fault if you're sure the old one is still charging. By the time most phone batteries need replacing a manufacturers' original battery is either not cost effective or simply unavailable but cheap batteries are not without their risks http://www.androidpit.com/tips-to-stop-your-battery-from-exploding

But you are using the same UK charger...if it's the same type of battery, it draws the same load.

The charger is a 2 pin and I have to use it with a UK adapter plug, and I thought that might have made some kind of difference. Anyway I have requested a refund and they have confirmed that I will receive the refund. Many thanks to you macman and everyone who replied.

Spain uses the same voltage as the UK, the only difference is the plug type. The adapter does not alter the voltage.
