More redundancies in the US today including one member of our team - down to 2 US staff & we have more than that in the Uk which is odd for a US company.

Feel a little guilty as they always get chosen in the States because they don't have the labour laws & protection we do. All very unsettling and not helped by the fact I am now having to pick up additional duties in an area I have neither the skill set or desire to do!

Anyway weekend is here and soup week nearly over (thankfully :D). Will take a week off next but have hopefully shrunk my appetite.

Cinema tomorrow & Christmas shopping Sunday so need to get house jobs done in the morning and do some lists.

Not many weekends left until Crimbo now so need to do some planning.

Argh - epic fail today, booked to see 'The Accountant' film, got to the cinema and the usher asked DS how old he was. Film is certificate 15 which I had neglected to mention to DS so of course he told the truth - that he was 14.

So they wouldn't let us in which is fair enough. Waste of £32 though! Grrrrr

In the hamster wheel of the working week.

Am in a good rhythm with my steps at the moment, having a week off soup week (was ready to start gagging :D) but am trying to not have bread Monday to Friday, and will do a soup week next week.

So hoping to keep up the good routine until Christmas when I'll doubtless fall off the health wagon and put on all the weight I've lost

Bought a new coat for DS Sunday but discovered it still had the security tag on it when we got home - great security in that shop - NOT:rotfl:

So will go back at the weekend to have them remove the tag & then will do some Christmas shopping - will be easier on my own without sullen boys around - that applies to DH just as much as DS! ;)

Went Christmas shopping in earnest today (i.e. without taking DS or DH- all they do is moan when shopping!). Managed to get a few bits until it started getting really busy and I had 4 rather heavy bags.

Had a Chinese take away (naughty for both diet & budget) to celebrate DS's school report which was much better than expected! Shame he ruined it by getting a demerit Friday for not doing his English homework - one step forward one step back!

So all in all not a hugely expensive weekend - Christmas presents all budgeted for.

Very little housework done though :(

I'm a bit wary of cavity wall insulation as we had it done at the last house and then got damp. I'd be interested to get one of those heat photos done of the house to see where most of the heat is going. Probably the windows but they're not bad enough to replace yet!

Not the best of weeks, been struggling with a cold and took to my bed.

Feeling a bit better now, went to 1k£a with DH and finally got lamps for the lounge - one broke a few weeks ago so we have been sitting in semi darkness since then and now we have light! £100 for 2 but will hopefully last a few years.

Today is a big housework day as pretty much every room needs a clean  Just having a break for lunch which was sausage baps - very welcome after another soup week :D

DS has his drama end of term show tonight so we are out at that - it's at a local private school which apparently has a bar! The mind boggles....

Back to pretty much full health and back to work, tedious day but am on a Christmas countdown if I'm honest.

Work have just announced another redundancy cycle in the UK - just inviting volunteers at the moment but it is a sure sign I'll be put at risk again in the New Year.

Today I am upbeat about that but I have been very down and scared about having to find another job.

Really trying to focus on getting my step count up and eating less - if I lose weight it will help with confidence issues.

No money news - need to buy some car tax this week and we have a trip to 1k£a at the weekend but it's all on the spreadsheet so I'm not out of control.

Starting to think about DH's big birthday at end of Feb - need to pull a budget & some ideas together. He originally asked for an Omega watch but even he thought the £3k price band was a bit high! Too right.

I really don't get it with these expensive watches - unless they can slow down/speed up time as appropriate I don't see the point :D.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Gosh, your employers like to keep you on your toes don't they? Not a pleasant way to live - constantly being at risk.

I think £50 is an expensive watch. :)
