oddest / worst things brought home by your cat

A few days ago a large (cat length) branch from a fir tree appeared in our bathroom - brought in through the window and deposited in the shower tray. There are no fir trees in our garden, or our neighbours garden. Closest is about 300 yards away.

The worst ever was a dead crow - that was brought back to the house in bits. Several days after the first bit appeared I saw Buddy carrying a wing from the old factory site across the road. I had spend days hunting the house, EVERYWHERE, looking for this poor dead bird after the first chunk of feather and skin appeared. I was so grossed out I had a few sleepless nights. Must have been too big / damaged to carry in one piece.

Strange creatures, those cats! My worst offender is curled up on the sofa beside me, sleeping next to the dog. Looks so innocent . . .

  • Years ago now, but I had a ginger tom who bought in a squirrel's tail. Never knew what happened to the rest of the squirrel!
Another time the same cat tried to get through the cat flap with a length of buttered french stick! He tried so hard to get it in. Even turned round and tried to drag it through backwards!
We had the usual birds and mice too. I hated waking up in the morning and finding half a mouse on the floor.

Not sure, but the live duck that was dragged through the cat flap sits fairly high up the list.

Fortunately when returned to the pond it swam around a little while, then took off and flew away

    This proper made me LOL!
Our cat is only a year and we only allow him into the back garden and although he can climb the only tree, hes not one for balancing along fences (esp with next doors similar aged puppy!)...best we get is his manky toy bumblebee ending up in bed with us...
we are moving to the countryside next month so he will be allowed to roam so lord knows what may appear in the coming months! :D
Change is inevitable...nothing stays the same forever

  • A cat we had some years ago managed to drag a live hedgehog through the catflap!

Our current cat hasn't brought anything too unusual in, but he is an excellent mole catcher and we are getting one brought home every other day at the moment - often alive and screeching!

Our first cat was a rather feral tom, he used to bring the usual bird, mouse etc. One day he seemed to have lost his appetite which was odd, especially as he was getting through a tin and a half of cat food a day, the big tins as well! The next day he still hadn't eaten, he hadn't done and poo and seemed a bit miserable.

The vet have him an enema, no luck, he didn't have a temperature so we thought blockage, there was a mass on his x-Ray but it wasn't clear what it was. He had to have an operation to remove it from his stomach, it turned out to be a guinea pigs pelvis. We eventually found the owner five streets away, instead of being angry or upset she offered to pay for half of his operation as she felt responsible for making him poorly, I refused of course. They were indoor guinea pigs as well!

He also once pood out a barbie dolls leg, no idea where he got that from.

My grandma had a canary when we were growing up, that was bought home by her cat.

An adult hare, dead, dragged through a window 4ft from the ground with only a coal bin to stand on.

    A fillet steak.

A juvenile goshawk, unharmed, dragged through the cat flap, found staring the cat down in the hallway. We had to bring in the RSPCA for that one, it was huge and p*ssed off.

    A toad, again unharmed.

    Toast.

One Sunday morning my cat brought home a fried egg, still warm, with a nicely runny yolk.
  • My last cat pepper only ever brought home 1 kill, which was 3 young pigeons, we found one and once we'd cleared up amongst the hysterics from dd and the uncertainy of whether it was actually dead or not, she brought back another and dumped it on the stairs, same clear up happened then she brought back another!
Must have fell out the nest as that was the only thing she ever brought home/killed, although I tend to lean towards the former.
My old family cat brought home bits and bobs, chicken legs (cooked) and other human food items, also seemed to favor blackbirds!
I did once look out my bedroom window to see him carefully removing steak with his paw that was cooking on next doors bbq though
