Asda complaint email - bad service!

  • What's far more important is that he gets some retraining or something so he doesn't treat other people badly.
And he definitely was rude - I guess you had to be there!

Honestly, I have better things to worry about in my life. If I don't like the service, I shop elsewhere.

The driver was offhand and unfriendly, but to describe your experience as 'disgusting' and 'atrocious' is completely over the top.
  • so I had to bend down repeatedly in front of him as he did not step back and stood directly in front of me - as a woman this made me feel very uncomfortable
or for him not to stand with his crotch near my head with me self consciously pulling up my top when I bent down!

How do you know he wasn't gay?

I have no idea if this driver was rude or not but if I had a driver that was then I'd tell him to take it all back and then complain and tell Asda or any other company why I took that action and that I would refuse any goods from that specific driver in the future. If they said they couldn't guarantee that then I'd be off to another supermarket.

Also have to say that in all my years of receiving various deliveries I've never had a rude driver, maybe I'm just lucky.
    It's someone else's fault.

No i don't think so, if a man stood so close i had to stick my head near his crotch every time i bent down i would tell him to back the hell up. But I can imagine someone not as assertive as myself would feel intimidated by it.

Have experienced something similar on public transport with men only moving just enough so i still have to rub against them. It's a power thing, and i know that most men are lovely gentlemanly guys, wouldn't behave like that, and probably don't understand this issue but it does occur.

    Sounds terrible to me.
You are quite right to complain strongly. Not your fault if the guy was having a bad day and the company are responsible to train him to be customer friendly and provide you with a service that leaves you feeling satisfied and happy - not one like this.
Oddly my OH always mentions that the delivery guy (tesco) appears to be staring down her top when she bends down to lift things out of the crate - maybe a trade secret that the drivers have banded about :\

    What do you actually want.

A measly £5 isn't enough, however much you are offerered, you would still risk getting the same driver so I don't understand your reasoning.

Me, I would have said, 'I don't want your money' I have made my complaint. I will not be shopping with you again'
Then there would be no risk of of meeting that drive again.]
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

It's a temporary injury so it's not normally a problem and I have no problem getting it out of the crates, I was about to start getting them out anyway but the two second gap in me not being fast enough made him snap at me. The issue was how he acted rather than asda's policy of helping or not, just basic manners. I'm sure he doesn't get paid vastly differently from the really polite and friendly drivers I normally meet.
As far as escalating the complaint, I don't want any vouchers at all - the girl on the phone said she would escalate it to her manager without me asking her to but they were unavailable so I'm just taking that step myself. What's far more important is that he gets some retraining or something so he doesn't treat other people badly.

He wont get any retraining, I'll tell, you what will happen:

His manager will ask him if he remembers the incident, he'll say something along the lines of 'nothing happened, I dropped the shopping off, she signed for it and I left'

The manager will nod his head and say 'you know what it's like, I've got to ask.......she must be a headbanger....'

The manager and the driver will probably read over the email and have a bit of a laugh about it as well.

You'll then receive an email or letter saying the driver has been 'spoken too' or 'retrained' and that will be that.

Drop it, move on with your life and order your food from someone else.

I have no idea about Asda so couldn't comment but certainly in many companies the procedure would be far more rigorous. There would likely be an assessment at some level about whether the complaint was genuine, but I can imagine for many employees that letter would stay on their file, primarily in case there are further incidents.

I could not care less about a drivers attitude as long as they deliver the correct goods on time.
