Relying on the cash machine always working is simply idiocy. As shown by this case, they go down sometimes, for a few hours.
Not anticipating this, then blaming the bank, makes no sense at all.
So can people anticipate everything in there life? No they can't!!Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -
Don't take this the wrong way, but glad it's not just me. Went to draw a tenner out first thing this morning (7.30am-ish Monday) and no-go, despite me knowing there was the cash there. RBS account, a Natwest ATM. Post Office machine across the road was the same. Came home and checked balance online, and money still there. Hopefully fixed by now, but I'm OK for another few hours anyway. Hate banks with a passion!0

Indeed they can't. They can, though, anticipate bank machines going down occasionally, so should take enough money out at the start of the night to ensure that they can get hone, rater than gambling on all being well later.
You being unable to anticipate, for example, the next pace lightning will strike doesn't alter this fact.0 -
This was about Lloyds Banking Group.
RBS Group is separate and was probably just coincidental.
Good to always have an account (with at least an ATM card ) with another banking organisation for this very reason.Leodis1970 wrote: »Don't take this the wrong way, but glad it's not just me. I get a Monday morning email from a firm of market analysts. Not the most exciting reading but it's used to help me pay the bills.
Halifax emailed customers with a record of using their ATM card during the hours in question.
I'd assume Lloyds and BoS did the same although this isn't confirmed. All left a message online when you logged into your account.
TSB sent text messages to customers warning them of the issue.
It seems to me that the timing and the communications have been reasonable.0 -
Perhaps the complainers could have asked the bank to carry out the work behind the scenes this morning after all most of the transactions seems to be done Saturday night/Sunday morning!
Nobody would have noticed would they?0 -

Now now, there's no need for reason, facts, and sense to intrude on another chance for people to moan about the evil banks.0 -

To be honest, these days going out on a Saturday night puts you in potential danger. I remember leaving a club one night with a group of friends to have someone hit me over the head with a glass bottle for no reason whatsoever, and a friend (on a different night) got punched in the face by someone wearing a knuckle buster. If we were there on our own we might never have got to the hospital for the needed help. I needed stitches and my friend needed facial surgery. Needless to say, we don't do it any more.0
