I may be wrong but were the discounts and free entry part of it removed a few years back when it was discovered that people were selling badges on ebay therefore making it a cheap way for someone to purchase free unlimited entry to attractions....

never won a badge...but my cat got a highly commended certificate in the national cat show blue peter class

I think maybe they started giving out a letter or certificate with the person's on and requiring ID because people were selling the badges.

I got one 25 years ago for a picture of a butterfly! Don't even know where it is now but I'm sure I kept it.

I got one even longer ago for a poem about a swan! Ditto to not knowing where it is now.

I have two. My first was for sending in a banana cake recipe (a very long time ago) and the second was because I lost the first one!

Had no idea it is possible to get a Blue Peter badge replaced!

Mine was presented by Valerie Singleton for an Easter card project (so many, many years ago).

More recently it was stolen by then-DH's vindictive Ex.

Would love a replacement to show the grandkids..

I got a normal blue and white round one when I was about 12 for entering a writing competition, I was so chuffed and my teacher read my name out in assembly :D :rotfl:

I never used it to get into free things though, I think it mostly worked out the same as using vouchers, and I've no idea where it is now.

I got mine near on 50 years back (45? - still a long time!) for writing in about an Edward VII Crown (5 shilling coin) I inherited!

Don't think you could use them for free stuff back then - it's still up in the attic somewhere....

I have two badges - a blue and white shield that I got for sending in a story and a round one for some kind of art competition (I seem to remember it was drawing a dinosaur). The shield must be 30 years old now

Used it a bit when I was younger for free entry to museums etc but now I'm well over 16 I can't get free stuff any more (plus most museums are free now anyway). Don't think there was anything else I could get free at the time

No, I was never lucky enough to get one.
However, I had a lucky escape when I was a youngster, and my folks tried to get someone called Jim to fix it for me - fortunately that one didn't happen either:o

I worked with someone who had a Jim'll Fix It badge. His wife worked at the factory where they made them.

Never got one... never got a picture on The Gallery either and not for a want of trying...

Used to go out with a bloke who was working at CBBC - jokingly told him to nick me a BP badge out of the office - his reply was that they were locked down like blooming Fort Knox!

I have a standard blue one that I got *whispers* well over 30 years ago.

I wrote a poem for my grandma when she was in hospital and she sent a letter into Blue Peter about it. They sent me a badge and her a signed photo of the team. They are at my parents house.

I don't remember us ever using it for a discount and I don't expect I can start using it now unless it's transferable to my kids!
