    Just a comment.
I've been checking out some of these services, and found that the free Box has been the slowest for uploading by a long way.
It also kept renaming files when resuming an upload.
The problem is well documented on their forum pages.
Copy.com was trouble free, and gives 15GB free.
I have a 50GB Box account (got extra on a freebie promotion), I don't use it that much, at the moment, but, haven't found it particularly slow. I use the desktop app to upload stuff.
I agree, Copy, is a good service and is one I use frequently. I've not had much trouble with Onedrive or Googledrive to be honest.
I use Multcloud to keep them as one large cloud storage area.
It gives me around a 100GB of cloud storage in one place, with easy transferring between them.

What the benefit of using DropBox, COPY or BOX over MEGA?

    No idea.

    Security could be one consideration.
Some have encyption controlled by the user e.g SpiderOak with their 'Zero-Knowledge'.

That's why I've been trying out a few, to be in the position to give some advice in relation to my thread HERE

The Dell *should* come with Dropbox installed, as I'll be getting the phone calls (unpaid) thought it best to get familiar with the product.
    Move along, nothing to see.

In Windows 7 and even Vista, one could use the Sync Centre. Windows 8? Only if you have Windows 8 Pro.

    My DropBox usage.
With DropBox I have a Dropbox folder on a master machine that is mirrored in the cloud and partial views of that on a laptop I use on 3G - I exclude volatile folders from this view to limit the amount of data the laptop downloads when on 3G. The source for my websites are on here so I can update that from any machine or location. DropBox keeps some back copies in case I need to backout a change. Can those things be done using Mega?

The Mega free space is attractive as I could use it to mirror system backups which would be out of the question using DropBox. Given the history of the owner and considering what happened to the Megaupload data I'd obviously notuse it as a primary backup. If it doesn't offer the flexibility I get from DropBox it would probably be worth setting up just for this. ### Sadly after checking the size of my backups 50GB would be inadequate too. In fact even with FTTC any online backup would be pretty much a no-go :(

I'm certainly happier to use MEGA than any US based Cloud service.

At the moment, I don't need actually need a Cloud service, other than to store data. Though it's always good to know what the other services can offer.

Fair enough. I'm happy enough with DropBox for my needs now but was thinking about cloud backup. Looking at my Acronis imagesizes though I don't think it's a viable option until we get gigabit broadband although even at FTTC speeds it would be better than having no backup at all because everything was lost in a house fire. I'll mull it over.

DropBox Pro is a bit expensive. For 500GB, an ungainly £399 per year, against £80 for Mega. COPY not too bad at £89.
BOX is not even in the running, with a 5GB file size limitation.

Livedrive may be worth a look for your needs. While you are in the testing mode, they do a free trial.

They have UK data centres for the paranoid.

How does a UK data centre help? The government will sell you out in a heartbeat. :)
Looks ok, though the pricing is unclear. A suggestion of £168 for two years.

Well we've moved off the original topic which was an alternative to email for passing large files to a friend. I think just about any of the suggestions made will do that for the file size the OP mentioned. Mega seems to claim the crown for free space offered if the files are large.

I took it offtopic by considering backups and none of the free cloud options will fully cover that but the real killer would be file transfer times. My images seem to be about 80GB and would take an age to download and even longer to upload. I could cut out somestuff in the backups for sure but not enough to make much of a difference and still have viable backups. For those I'll stick to my NAS raid box.
