Dropbox has a "Public" folder. You simply copy the file into it then wait until it has uploaded. Then right-click on the file to get the direct link and send that link to the recipient (who does NOT need to have a Dropbox account).
I have several Dropbox accounts - all with the maximum (free) storage of 18GB because I used the referral system to increase my allowance.
Note that the "Public" folder has a data limit, which means that only one or two people can download a large file from it. That works fine if you use it legitimately but it means that you can't divulge the link to several people because they will exceed your download limit and cause your account to be closed.0 -

The recipient does not need to have an account to be able to download in any of the other options either.
Mega does not have any of the limitations, including the need for referrals to increase account size and a maximum file size limit as well as a download limit.0 -

Try box.com as an alternative to Dropbox.
Just a comment.
I've been checking out some of these services, and found that the free Box has been the slowest for uploading by a long way.
It also kept renaming files when resuming an upload.
The problem is well documented on their forum pages.
Copy.com was trouble free, and gives 15GB free.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
What the benefit of using DropBox, COPY or BOX over MEGA?
Looks as if you can do incrementals backups with DropBox. What else?
Some can also Transcode and stream video, as opposed to having to download them.
Would be more interesting to read quite why people are recommending one solution over another.0
