This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning all,
Had a busy day yesterday cleaned through whole house (although it doesn't look like it now !) and got four loads of washing washed and dried and out away.
I also collected a new chest of drawers for dd's room its a beautiful Victorian pine one with really deep drawers, the one she had has not really worked properly from when we had it, so its been broken up ready to go to the tip!
Work today and its going to be a busy one, but it makes the day fly by, something with chips tonight and my shopping is being delivered.
Have good days all xx

Morning All
RR - that chest of drawers sounds lovely. I too am having my shopping delivered tonight - stocking up with tins, etc so thought it easier to have it brought here than humphing it about myself.
Made Jamaican Red Bean Soup last night (didn't have any kidney beans so substituted them with broad beans that DD had bought by mistake) and it was delicious. DD had her fish/pasta concoction then had a plateful. A good hearty warm meal for cold days too.
Managed to cut the hedge at the front yesterday, ended up doing next doors too as doing half looks a mess. Also cut the grass whilst we had a dry day. Came in for a shower and then watched Bake Off, gosh they're good.
Children return today and I have a funeral to attend this afternoon, hope I can find a pair of trousers to fit!
Hugs to those in need, hope everyone is feeling fine. Take care. XX0 -
Morning all,
RR thank you for starting today's thread.
Quite heavy rain here at the moment, hope it will brighten up later.
DGS will be receiving his AS results today. He has strict instructions from his Nan to text me his results as soon as he knows:) Good luck to all those receiving their results today
Well wishes to all those not feeling so well today, and gentle hugs if you need one.
Will be back later

candlelight I'm glad the dog warden is sorting things out, it must be a nightmare for you x
dandy-candy I hope the session with your counsellor helped x
Little Mate was fab as usual. He snores really loudly
Another two tall ships have arrived in the docks and two more are on their way. When they're all here I'll go and visit, I'd love some photos of them all together. Not sure if that'll be possible though.

Nice and quiet here today, I have the house to myself. The washing machine will be busy, I have a couple of loads of clothes to do and two loads of towels. I have some paperwork to sort and some crochet to package up. I'm working on something for a friend too but it's going horribly wrong, I'll have to sit in silence and work out exactly what's happened

Just back from taking dd2 for her A level results . She did really well and she's got into uni to be a vet :T
Good luck to everyone getting results today , we are so giddy right now , after all the stress of waiting . We can relax , we are celebrating with a fry up0 -
Morning all
Hugs to Dandy, Molly, Hilly, Mrs MH, LW & anyone else in need, so many people are having problems atm.
I'm off to work today as it's results day, I've been told I have to fill in paperwork & take photo's, when I asked for more info I was told 'Your doing it with Mrs Smith, she'll show you' only I'm not, 'I'm with someone who also hasn't done this before either.
Hubby is on holiday tomorrow & we are having the twins for today, how much help he'll be I'm not sure, he had a half day off earlier to spend time with DGD & spent 3 hours of it on the phone sorting out problems! It was so bad they've paid him overtime for it.
Time I got a few jobs done before I set off, it could be a long day today.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Sistercas Many congratulations to your DD, it is an exciting day isn't it.
Enjoy your fry up and enjoy the rest of the day. I expect there has been a lot of texting going on:)

Morning all,
Sistercas - Well done to your DD. You must be so proud (and relieved).
Bit dull here ATM, rain due later. DS2 stayed at a friends last night and I am hoping he will text/phone me his results.
Not got much planned for today. Dad gave me a 20% off M&S voucher yesterday and I have £20 in tokens, so I might go and have a nosey and treat myself to something.
Hugs to those in need, keep smiling all, x0 -
Good morning everyone and happy birthday to our son. He is 25 today.
He is having a garden party on Saturday. Looking forward to it.
I spent a lot of time yesterday on the computer keeping up with surveys and reviews on test products.
Went for a walk with the dog.
Eating lots of fruit and drinking tap water.
Choirs are ever on going - WM on, breakfast dishes done.
Today I have a beef casserole in the SC. = 400G British beef diced. Was £4 now YS £2.36.The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
Congratulations to Sistercas DD x
First year in 7 years when we don't have the exam angst - bit sad actually:eek:
Im plodding on - trying very hard to eat properly and get my strength back. Black dog is snapping at my heels atm but I'm trying to be positive.
No OS but trying x
Hugs xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Good Morning everybody :hello: - dull, but dry, day here so far ----
.
redruby - thanks for starting today's thread :T. Those Victorian Drawers are fabulous, aren't they - we had two sets between myself and two sisters when we were in our teens. Mum left them both behind when she sold the house in 1984 .
camelot1001 - Great improvisation on your Jamaican Bean Stew :j.
candlelight - hope this is now the end of your parents problems with the 'demon dogs'. Did you see last night's programme on TV - was thinking about their predicament while watching it :undecided!for your dgs's results.
tru - the ships in the docks sound great - we sometimes get them in Liverpool Docks as well and it's always a fabulous sight when they're in full sail.
sistercas - Well done to your DD on her results.
Hester - hope things go well in work today - I remember the chaos of Exam Results Day.
Plans for today include -
Full shift in CS - taking a pile of Puzz 3D's in with me.
AH Moroccan Couscous to take with me for lunch today :j. Hope co-worker doesn't decided to go out for Curry & Chips like she did last week. They looked and smelled gorgeous and I could have murdered them!
Quick whoopsie trawl in A$da this evening.
Ham Salad for evening meal tonight - HB eggs already done and in the fridge for later.
((((Big Hugs)))) to all who need or want one and special thoughts to all our teens waiting for exam results.
Will pop back in again later - luv Lilyplonk xxx0
