It sure would! She's happily chasing my stepdad's squeegy up and down the glass whilst he's cleaning the windows so I think she's recovering well
If she gets all the way to the top, you'll know she's the Impossible Mission cat...The vet was so salesy though! Basically telling me if I didn't switch back to dry food her teeth would rot and fall out.
It's the dry food that's full of the carbohydrate! Sheesh...
Although then again, a cat with diabetes is probably pretty profitable for a vet - said with my cynics' hat on...Glad it'll be a different vet next time as I didn't really like him. One of those that comes across as having a thinly veiled sardonic nature.
I seem to attract doctors like that... :undecidedEssentially a relatively new module computer (2008 or newer) that has software that can be accessed via the electronic submissions process. I tried a free word program in the beginning and it wasn't compatible.
Looking at the specs, it claims Linux. Since only Open/Libre Office is available on that, you'd assume you'd be able to use Open/Libre Office.
You would need to remember to Save As as word document though.Actually I haven't. When I've looked at the emails etc they never seem to have the coupons/offers I want and it'd be so easy to get carried away with the idea of new clothes, beauty products etc...
:rotfl:
You seem to have discipline in your education, but not new clothes?so I tend to avoid most offers now. You can search groupon for specific vouchers, can't you? Most offers I've seen aren't for the weekends though.

How do you get on the boost scheme? We have a tesco clubcard as a family, so it's not in my name.
http://m.tesco.com/mt/www.tesco.com/clubcard/deals/
Look at all the categories: I use the eating out and days out ones a lot!
Prezzo is quadruple boost, so for every £2.50 of clubcard vouchers you swap, you get £10 in restaurant vouchers. There is small print; you can only redeem them against main meals; no dessert or drinks (maybe starters, I can't remember, but none of them are gf so it doesn't apply to us so I've never checked) but there's no catch other than that and they're great value. They were doing odeon vouchers as a summer deal (£2.50 gets one adult ticket) but I'm not sure if that's still running.
The worst thing you can do with tesco clubcard is spend it back I tesco... Over the last 18 months, I've had for free:
2 Longleat tickets
A Hudl
2 meals for 2 at Prezzo (but of extra spending required here but not much)
6 odeon tickets
2 tickets for welsh caves
2 tickets for sea life in Weston super mare
And I still have loads left to cash in which we'll probably blow on eating out over the year before saving the year's build up for next summer again
I have a tesco credit card which I use for all monthly spends and pay off in full each month so even if I don't shop in tesco, I still get clubcard points. It's working out well for me, but even without the credit card the points build up nicely
In our house, when things break, we just pretend they still work0 -
If she gets all the way to the top, you'll know she's the Impossible Mission cat...
Not this time. The squeaking on the glass frightened her and she shot off before she got to the top. She returned to watch some more though. It's the dry food that's full of the carbohydrate! Sheesh...
Tell me about it! I mentioned some of the things I read about it being artificial, not being a natural diet, dehydrating her... etc... which is then when he went on to just saying "make sure there's fresh water" and "wet food is no good for her teeth, you need to wean her off it". He just wasn't listening so I just let him talk and made appropriate "hmm hmm" noises whilst trying to stop kitty from attacking the keyboard.
I think he figured I wasn't committed to the dry food idea so he encouraged me to mix the foods and to use enzyme toothpaste. I get that the teeth is a concern because she doesn't crunch carcasses for dinner but I don't see why the only suggestion is dry biscuits. It's like saying the only way to keep our teeth healthy is to drink fluoride water. Talk about close-minded!
I do hope it's the younger vet next time as I reckon he'll be more open to questions once he knows I don't want to wean her off wet food.Although then again, a cat with diabetes is probably pretty profitable for a vet - said with my cynics' hat on...
I've seen some people post comments like that about why they think vets promote dry food like Royal Canin. I think it may be more true that their courses are sponsored by those companies so the nutrition modules are centred around that, rather than other options. I do hope it is a case of they genuinely think it's the best option, not that they want to harm animals for their profit.I seem to attract doctors like that... :undecided
That's unfortunateI hope you don't have to deal with them often. I've been lucky in that sense (few visits and the visits I have had they've been lovely).

I've never used that before. I'll look into it - thank you!You seem to have discipline in your education, but not new clothes?
Odd, I know. I find it so difficult to find clothes that fit properly but I get seduced by items that look good on the pictures and at bargain prices... then I'm disappointed when they don't work for me. Or I find the images depressing because I know they'll look hideous so I feel I've missed out on a bargain. Bras are a good example - I see some amazing offers, then I look for my size and either they don't go up to my size, or they skip my size entirely (34GG).You don't need most of them - just one.
I'll keep an eye peeledIf you don't believe you can ever do it, you never will.0 -

Thanks so much for the tips! I'll definitely have to look into this.

Cats don't really. You get a lion kill as an example, the lions eat the prime meat, and possibly some of the organs. The vultures fight over the organs and scraps of meat left on the bones, and it's the hyenas which crunch the bones.
And those are BIG cats...but I don't see why the only suggestion is dry biscuits. It's like saying the only way to keep our teeth healthy is to drink fluoride water. Talk about close-minded!
The best comment from the article above: "These studies show that dry food does not clean a cat’s teeth any better than eating pretzels cleans ours!"I do hope it's the younger vet next time as I reckon he'll be more open to questions once he knows I don't want to wean her off wet food.
Well, he might be, or might not. In my experience it's the older people who are less believing about what they've been taught.
When teaching meets experience head-on, it's the teaching that splinters first.I've seen some people post comments like that about why they think vets promote dry food like Royal Canin. The 1st line in my siggy is there for a reason. The first one is what you should always do when things happen that don't make sense. That's unfortunateI hope you don't have to deal with them often. I've been lucky in that sense (few visits and the visits I have had they've been lovely).
I try very hard to avoid dealing with them. Unfortunately sometimes I have to.Odd, I know. I find it so difficult to find clothes that fit properly
What's normally wrong with them? Is it just the chest size? I find clothes difficult because they're usually too short in the body. "You'll get cold in your kidneys!" as my mother used to say... :rotfl:"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

No worries!and I know exactly what you mean about friends being on board, it's lovely when that happens

I don't want to !!!! off my vet but I really want to start linking them into these articles. I posted a review yesterday that was pretty darn honest (love the vets and kitty was happy but I wasn't about how salesy the vet was). No response. What's your take? Should I link the vet practice into the articles anyway? :PThe best comment from the article above: "These studies show that dry food does not clean a cat’s teeth any better than eating pretzels cleans ours!"
It's true! I know there's some comments that say fruits like apples have an abrasive effect on the teeth and help clean, but then there's the fruit sugars to contend with so. So apples won't fix our teeth either.Well, he might be, or might not. In my experience it's the older people who are less believing about what they've been taught.
I've met the younger vet before and he seemed really down to earth and very caring. I got the impression he was there for the love of the work, not for the money (it could be a ploy though). The 1st line in my siggy is there for a reason. The first one is what you should always do when things happen that don't make sense.
"Follow the money"? It's true. I guess many people do. Maybe my problem has always been that I have tried for many years not to, as a result I've been 'stuck' in minimum wage rather than following promotions and the like. Life is about balance. Or at least the kind of ratio that gives me a sense of fulfulment and gratitude, not just more work and stress. What's normally wrong with them? Is it just the chest size? I find clothes difficult because they're usually too short in the body. "You'll get cold in your kidneys!" as my mother used to say... :rotfl:
The chest size is the biggest problem (no pun intended). Small waist by comparison, wide hips, chunky thighs and a rotund bottom. And yet somehow I fit into a size 12 in some cases but my various proportions make me look far bigger in many commercial fits.
I'm 5 foot 4 so length isn't a problem unless I opt for the smaller size when it fits my boobs. The trade off then though is a shortening effect as fabric has to fit my boobies.
I don't want cold kidneys either! Nor do I want people commenting on knicker-lines, see-through leggings or the amount of wobble in my thighs. My jiggly bits are for me to learn to be proud of and others to feel lucky to experience, not for the general population to critique. If you don't believe you can ever do it, you never will.0 -

It sure is! Pretty horrific when you think someone's on the same wavelength, then they choose a restaurant that will cost you at least £40, and that's when you're just on water! If you don't believe you can ever do it, you never will.0 -

What do you expect to achieve? You will not change their mind (IMHO) . They "know" what they've been taught, and that's all they need to know (as far as they are concerned).
If those courses were sponsored by Royal Canin, then they will be unbiased - Royal Canin will have said so. Besides, bias never happens when things are sponsored - the companies just waste money for the good of their health (linky). Yes, the irony of linking to Wikipedia for matters of bias is not lost on me...It's true! I know there's some comments that say fruits like apples have an abrasive effect on the teeth and help clean, but then there's the fruit sugars to contend with so. Nothing can do that other than a low sugar/starch diet. The bacteria in the mouth can't metabolise protein/fats, so die of starvation in the absence of sugars/near sugars.I've met the younger vet before and he seemed really down to earth and very caring. I got the impression he was there for the love of the work, not for the money (it could be a ploy though).
I could be cynical here...but I won't be..."Follow the money"? It's true. I guess many people do.
It's more of a case of: Who paid what to whom to do what? And where did the money go after that? That usually starts making sense of nonsensical actions.
People do all sorts of seemingly stupid things when they're paid to.
After all - would you do this for fun?(linky)Maybe my problem has always been that I have tried for many years not to, as a result I've been 'stuck' in minimum wage rather than following promotions and the like. Life is about balance. Or at least the kind of ratio that gives me a sense of fulfulment and gratitude, not just more work and stress.
Not all fulfilling work is minimum wage. But the nicest jobs tend to be the ones you don't need to offer much for as people like doing them.I don't want cold kidneys either! Nor do I want people commenting on knicker-lines, see-through leggings or the amount of wobble in my thighs. My jiggly bits are for me to learn to be proud of and others to feel lucky to experience, not for the general population to critique.
Ignore them if they do critique. Some people are just opening their mouth because they want to say something nasty - it makes them feel better. If you didn't have wobble in your thighs, then your thighs would be firm and that would be criticised too. Anything so long as it's hurtful.
The only feature you need to look for in your body parts is "attached" - everything else is optional... :rotfl:"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Made a slow cooker veggie curry at the weekend! My mum and stepdad even had some and turned into a meaty one. Still got two portions for lunches and another 4 in the freezer.
Ladies night was a bit of a flop. The hostess got her days mixed up so got the landlord worried about the choice of day, then she cancelled it only to be told she was wrong. In the end, noone she invited turned up.
I invited one girl who was coming to see what the parties are like to work with her for pamper days/nights with her clients. Fortunately she brought two friends. And my mum and her friend came to help. We had a laugh but wasn't so great on sales. I made about £30 from a combination of a few sales and the raffle tickets but the prizes were worth more than that.
Work's been !!!! since I started there in March and continues to get worse. I can't ever seem to do "my" job, I'm having to do other people's. Which means I'm getting some grief for affecting other people's jobs because I'm not doing "mine" even though I can't do anything about it. I keep getting shoved in the shop (which I hate), especially since it's the time of year where there's lots of stressed and rude customers that we can't fix things for.
I keep trying to just stay focused on the fact that it's "just a job" and that it pays the bills and I just need to stick it out until I finish my degree... but that isn't washing anymore. I just can't find anything "better" as it always ends up a similar situation. I can't seem to get anything other than retail posts. This was supposed to be a better opportunity in a "new and exciting role". Lies.
It's one of those weeks where I feel pretty pathetic and low on esteem.
I best get ready for work.If you don't believe you can ever do it, you never will.0
