Forum intermittently slow 12/08/14

The main website is fine but forum pages seem to be loading slowly intermittently.

Vista and Firefox.

OS = Ubuntu 14.04 (trusty)
Browsers = Firefox 31 and 32b6 and 34a1, Chrome 36.0.1985.125, Opera 25.0.1583.1, + various others

OS = Android 4.4.2
Browsers = Firefox 31 and 32b, Chrome 36.0,1985.131

Could test others, but would probably be pointless as seems the slowness is nothing to do with browser or OS.

Seems to be better now, but bound to glitch again now I've just said that. :P

The slowness I am getting is in loading the main php of any page, and not any script or images etc. i.e. showpost.php, showtread.php, forumdisplay.php etc etc......

An example here of a 13s lag loading that.

Its OK switching between boards but there is still an occasional 'hang' of about 10 seconds when opening a thread and again when posting a reply, particularly if quoting.

(not as bad as it was though)

We had a very large traffic spike yesterday and our servers were still trying to clear it. It should be much better now though.
