In my line of work we are obliged to offer clients the product at the lowest price point if they have seen it advertised previously at a lower price.
Whats the product and how far back can the customer go?
a week, a year, 10 years?0 -
It's industry intelligence data and analysis - the products are annually published with a launch price reduction. If after the offer has expired a customer says that they are aware it was previously at a lower price in the interest of repeat custom we honour their request at the lower price.0

The lifespan of a product is one year0

Thanks for the reply, not quite the same as a sofa in JL though.0 -
I know I did state before that I have no knowledge of consumer rights hence why I am here!0

In general a retailer does not have to sell you a product at a previously advertised price (unless they are somehow contractually obliged to). They don't even have to sell to you at the currently advertised price if they don't want to. They are free to refuse any custom as long as the discrimination isn't itself illegal (race, gender, sexuality etc).0

Do you really think people working in the store and going to know exactly why the price has increased and for how long? People on the front line are only privy to certain information all of the other changes will come from the head office so only they would know and only the front line can say prices subject to change, as the shop I work for all we can is past prices and stock dates and nothing else. Its one of my pet hates working in retail somone seeing something for a certain price and when they go to buy it the price has increased and demand they get it at lower price. Wouldnt be the same argument if the price was lower.0

That's very true littlestars re if it was a reduced price. I wasn't implying the store staff would have been aware of such a rise but rather because I was advised to delay my order I missed out on purchasing at the £1500 price.
You have to admit that a 695 rise is a significant amount I feel I am in my rights to question it.0 -

They advised you to do this as it suited your circumstances with your move though, not to make sure you paid more money. You could equally have said 'no thanks, I'll order it now'.georgiestar wrote: »I feel I am in my rights to question it.
You absolutely are right to question it if you feel strongly about it. Equally however, JL have no obligation to, or are ever likely to, make you privy to their pricing strategy.
As said above, if you can hold on, it's possible the price will reduce in the near future. Either that or shop around for a similar one.0
