I'd recommend the nappy trick too. Use a clean disposable, pop your key in and fold the nappy up as you would if it was dirty and put it under your towel. No one wants to touch a dirty nappy!0

I used to ask a neighbouring family to watch my stuff and then I would do the same for them."'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life
Try to make ends meet
You're a slave to money then you die"0 -
I would not be happy doing this, if there was an emergency that the lifeguard had to respond to then they would be off leaving your stuff unattended
I am very surprised that a life guard on duty would agree to look after your valuables while you went off for a swim
Well there is never just 1 or 2 lifeguards on duty, there are often 3 or 4. And on the off chance that they are called in an emergency, then they would leave it by the red and yellow flags I am sure. besides, I don't go swimming for 10mins even, just a few mins. So not long.0 -
Google 'Tan Safe Beach Safe' on amazon.:)'My father told me to go for it.
So I went for it. But it had gone.'0 -
We've buried a key in the sand underneath the rug / towel.. . .I did not speak out
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me..

I live 5 minutes from several beautiful beaches, and regularly take the kids swimming in the sea. I bought a waterproof screw top tube like thing, a bit like the 80s pocket money holders, you wear round your neck, but smaller. I put keys and any cash I have in there, it works fine!
I do like the happy trick though0 -
I'd recommend a Chillswim dry bag:

There are various sizes. It's primarily intended as a safety device, to make you visible in the water, but has the added bonus of being able to store items inside it to take with you, such as your keys.
