I'm asking you ladies as I know what it means to me, but as we are from Mars and yourselves from Venus, sometimes we speak a different language. Here goes....
Somebody (I don't know) wants me to take them out (as in on a date) .
Beings as I have made it clear I'm not after the physical and I'm not financing them for their company (to which they replied they have their own money) . I really don't understand the question they are asking

They want your company, ot company from the opposite sex. That does not need to involve physical shenanigans. It's also good for the sprits to "go on a date" ie the ego/self confidence gets a harmless boost.Norn Iron Club member 4730

... What question ARE they asking? I can't see one!0

You don't know them but they want to go out with you? You're not the only one who's confused. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

They hope to persuade you to change your mind regards "the physical"?
They're trying to make someone else jealous?
They've decided it'd be good to 'network' with you for other gain?:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

I agree, and will go out and meet almost anyone. It's the taking bit I 'm confused with, well not confused just unclear.
On POF as some of you are aware there are guys after n.s.a or o.n.s , however I suspect there are those that put in their profile looking for soul mate or relationship, but really are taking money saving or being frugal to an extreme (in a 21st century equal opportunities world) .
Whatever anybody is looking for on there all involve meeting at some point.
Meeting for a drink or a meal or whatever, I can understand clearly, however it's the 'take out' bit (like an excited teenager) I must add we are both in or nearly saga age group0 -

If you don't want a physical relationship (with anyone) or a social life (again, with anyone) then maybe PoF isn't the site for you.
If it's just this one person in whom you have no interest politely decline and block (if blocking is possible on PoF; don't know, don't use it).
If you are interested in the date but want to go Dutch then say so!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

I never said I don't want anything physical with anyone in future, or to live the life of a recluse.
I have said about going dutch, even my profile suggests so.
I'm not after cotton wool wrapped answers, to me there is a difference to say "do you want to go to mse restaurant" and "can I take you out to mse restaurant" .0
