Unlocked broadband dongle, which one to buy?

I have a THREE dongle, ZTE MF112, (I was on a contract but now I'd ike to go PAYG getting different cards) unfortunately it's taken 10 minutes on the phone with THREE to get it unlocked, and now I am having trouble adding to APNs of another provider, so I'm thinking sod it and let's buy another one

which brand would you recommend for flexibility in adding other SIM cards to it and for a low price? I'd like to add primarily Giffgaff and EE as they seem the cheapest PAYG

thanks you

The 3 connection manager is the problem, you need to try a generic version.

    Here is one

you may need to keep the 3 version for the driver.

Probably the bottom one may be best - the top one is and ISO file that you have to burn using appropriate software.

Confused. In your previous thread, you wrote that it was unlocked and that the O2 SIM had worked with it previously.
    Was that all a misunderstanding?

Is it unlocked or not? Have you cleaned up your laptop or run a Refresh?

The issue is not the modem.

A cheap Mifi device might be an easier solution for you (your dongle isn't the fastest - 7.2Mbps).

Also have a read on HUKD about unlocking etc.

I add to unlock the modem, I couldn't do it through 3 website so I had to phone them up. O2 did work at some point for like 10 minutes, then it stopped, I had no idea what I did to make it work

I've run a refresh yes, now not even 3 connects on the modem any more lol

I ran Ccleaner and Defraggler yesterday and they both said my PC was ok...

It could not have worked before if it wasn't unlocked and there was no place to add the O2 profile.
Perhaps it connected via WiFi. ;)

Shall I take a look now if you are on WiFi?

PS: Nifty Digits, I am not being dense, I still think my modem is the issue though? you said it yourself that there was no place to add the APN on mine...

I got a Tmobile locked Huawei E3131 USB dongle and found a free unlock site that worked first time then when I insert another network SIM the dongle just automatically sets itself for that network. Unlock codes are 99p on ebay.
Although there's still some Tmobile branding when you log into the setup page of the dongle it seems to work fine with Three, Vodafone etc.

Same modem available here for £4.99
Unlocking should be possible for free using the new Algorithm.
Though you may need to buy a top up voucher with the modem.

Uninstall Defraggler. You don't need it. The biggest problems you will come against are ones that you will install yourself.

Take uTorrent as an example. It comes bundled with OpenCandy. So whilst you are installing UTorrent, unless you pay attention as to what you agree, you will install additional Junkware, that will usually be unhelpful.
It often take the form of asking whether you wish to Accept or Decline an offer. People may think that if they Decline that the won't be able to continue to install the main program...so they accept the Junkware....and your browsing experience begins to slow...
