POD certainly helps, but it's not the be-all-and-end-all ... proof of posting should still be sufficient evidence. (Again, Interpretations Act 1978).0

Look online. There should be info on the receipt to tell you where to look. Else try here:

This is what i got for the tracking number at royal Mail
Status: Royal Mail Signed For™ items are only scanned when the item has been delivered. Depending on whether the item was sent 1st or 2nd class, this may be a few days after posting. Please try again later.
Please come back later
Information on your Royal Mail Signed For™ item is not yet available.0 -

It would be deemed received. Big difference between signed for and special delivery.
I would put in a complaint and if not resolved, send a LBA and follow Small Claims protocol0 -
Its insurance so letter of complaint and then take the matter to the FOS - they get charged ~£500 win or lose if they allow it to go to the ombudsman.
You need to read the terms of the policy and check what the cancellation clauses are. Obviously need to check you met them - normally its just to phone them on a set number.
As others have said, the law assumes anything thats posted has been received unless the sender can prove otherwise. This is why you SHOULDNT use recorded delivery or special delivery (unless insurance is required) as this then gives them a way to prove something wasnt received. Send it regular mail with a certificate of posting and the only realistic way they can prove it wasnt received is if you sent it to the wrong address.
You'd need to see if their terms explicitly require you to have proof of delivery.0 -
i rang post office they say this tracking tracking is invalid as it is older than 1 year hence i cant prove the letter was received
but can prove it was posted

Sorry about that just seen it. What is FOS inside insurance talks about0

Of course letters aren't assumed to have arrived. You may be confusing it with deemed date of service of court papers- they're deemed served a certain number of days after posting. They could still be lost.0
