Applying for Halifax mortgage in-branch

It appears that no application was ever made, so I am hoping that all will be OK and we will be no different to anyone who went into branch as a first point of call.
The broker has copies of the SA302 and all other documentation. We have all originals and he has copies. I am assuming that he has a responsibility to return these to us via post?
Thanks for your help.
Who told you the application was never submitted? Halifax told us that they never had our application but that's because brokers go through a different system and they had received it, it just doesn't show up on their system.
Are you doing the 5% deposit? (I thought Halifax had stopped this)0 -
Whether they received a full application or not, you'll need to be careful that you don't screw yourself by giving details that are drastically different to the DIP (they will check against this too since it's recent, and with them), or not only will your application be declined, but you could end up with a fraud marker against your credit file which will make obtaining even a credit card difficult.
Oh, and allow a good 2 or 3 hours for the appointment at Halifax...I am a mortgage adviser. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Fair enough. That's just what our broker told us.0 -
I had a really good experience of the Halifax - after 10 weeks of the L&C broker messing about and wasting time... (Albeit with a different lender)
Had my appointment on a Wednesday, took all my docs with me, submitted full application. Valuation/Homebuyers took place on Friday afternoon, mortgage agreed by Tuesday, Homebuyers report emailed Thursday. Completed last week. Was about 2 months in total with Halifax.0 -

It would only take this long if you are unprepared. just remember every possible document you can and it will be extremely smooth. Good chance you wont need everything you bring but bring it anyways and have it sorted so you can easily give them what ever you need. I may be crazy doing it but it worked well.
And as I mentioned put your self through a stress test and have a proper budget (as detailed as possible) and calculate the mortgage payments to see if you can afford it. Then change the mortgage payments to an interest rate of 8% or so and see if you can still afford it with your budget.
They probably wont go to this extreme level of checks but it provides them with confidence that you have thought it out properlyand it will also open your eyes up
Be prepared to answer questions like why you think a X amount of years fixed rate works best for you, and why you want a certain mortgage term etc.0 -

What he meant to tell you is that he can no longer access it. Halifax have restricted access to Help to Buy through brokers to solely first time buyers.I am a mortgage adviser. You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
