Ulster Bank design of debit card is nice I think. They have 3 different types of debit card amid all blue in colour and have a faint earth picture in the background, serviceCARD, debitCARD or cashCARD the latter is only issued on savings accounts and can only be used in atm's. The serviceCARD is an offline one which has an added contactless function although Ulster Bank are very picky on issuing a serviceCARD even on their full current accounts as I wanted contactless on my card and went through hell to get one with the complaints and credit lending department although they did compensate me 170 quid for taking so long to reach a decision. The debitCARD is an online card (most customers will get this one) and hence does not have a contactless function and cannot be used at pay at pumps or aircraft ect. An advisor in Ulster Bank informed me that every new customer not switching their account to them will get a debitCARD and then after 6 months of good standing with them the system can recommend a serviceCARD except customers who have a Step (Basic) Account or and Adapt (Under 18) Account. Hope this helpsUlster Bank been forgot about as usual? :-) The award cousin.
