I have a Ds lite and a 3ds, I love them. I also plan on getting a new computer soon, so I can't say too much
We have a large HD TV, my dad's passion was gadgets, and to be honest, I can only really appreciate the difference with particular movies. So yes I definitely agree with you there.

I LOVE Pinterest Igamogam! Loads of MSE ideas on it, and some great non MSE ones too!
The pizza muffins turned out surprisingly well, will definitely make them again. Super cheap and easy, we have a breadmaker that earns it's keep and the pizza dough setting is very well used here. The Pinterest photo had the dough rolled with hardly any toppings inside so I added a little bit more (worried that it would stop it all cooking through). Cooked beautifully so next time I'll properly load them with cheese and other goodies!Total Starting Debt August 2014- £38,061

Computers justify a bit of investment I think killerpeaty. We upgraded my ancient laptop last year but I hate Windows 8 so much I still use my elderly one... I think I will cry when it finally dies!

Use it to get ideas for work mainly
Big TV Debate: Now I would have been in the 'its no better brigade' even when I sampled a friends 60" all the bells and whistles one to watch a 'special' programme, until.................... my OH went a d bought a 50" HD TV in a Boxing Day sale ( it was a stupid low price I have to say and you had to be 1 of the first three in the shop) We had thought about up grading the one we had (24" to a 38" 40" max we said) and we did spend about a week saying this is too big but now it seems normal to have a life size news reader in the corner of the living room;)and I can definitely appreciate the difference with HD we are lucky to have a large living room as I think in a small room it would be overpowering. We also play all our music through it and its great for iplay*r etc so I guess I am a convert:D But as far as other gadgets and gizmos are concerned we are pretty much a latest gadget free zone - my vacuum cleaner I bought in 1985:eek:Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Wow, impressive vacuum cleaner lifespan Igamogam!!! :T Reminds me, I need to clean the filter in mine...
Not much to report here on the debt busting today. Hoping the postman brings a cheque with the mobile phone proceeds. Ebay auctions all have bids and plenty of watchers so off to a good start!

Bit of a wasted day sat not doing an awful lot. Should have made the most of the dry weather and gone outside for a nice walk somewhere.
Wishing the rest of August away rather... but a watched pot never boils and all that.
Postman was empty handed. Been helping the children with their summer homework and sewing name tags on new uniform, in between fiddling pointlessly with spreadsheets and refreshing my ebay selling page
Started a monthly debt tally on my opening diary post. Decided it would be encouraging for me to see monthly progress in one place (and also because I am nosy and quite enjoy seeing that sort of info at the start of other people's diaries). Speaking of diaries I found a few more interesting ones to subscribe to today which is good!
Worked out that this month we have cleared 8.2% of our debt- surprised it is as much as that (no natural mathmetical talent here!). Totally unrealistic to expect to make as decent a dent every month BUT if we hadn't taken the bull by the horns we probably would have paid off a 3rd of what we have in August. Just goes to show a concerted effort goes such a long way doesn't it?
This time next week the children will be going back to school and I'll have time to try and earn some money again. I'm self employed, kind of a hobby type business really, so I don't make much money- but every little helps!
Hope everyone has had a nice day! Tuna and sweetcorn pasta for tea here... good old store cupboard job!Total Starting Debt August 2014- £38,061

Payday!
Our big loan direct debit goes out on Monday, looking forward to updating our spreadsheet when it does! :j Plan to pay £500 off the CC next week and then work hard to save/earn enough to bring us up to our £800 target for the month.
We have done well to avoid doing another food shop this week. More homemade pizza for tea last night, and I think tonight I'll make a chinese fried rice using up bits of meat in the freezer. Going to do a big food shop for the week ahead in the morning.
Plan to record carefully all of our grocery spends this month, be interesting to see how low we can get them whilst still eating well.
Rumour has it that summer is making a reappearance next week which will be nice! Be good to clear my washing backlog and get it all out drying on the line. Our little veg patch will be pleased to see some sunshine too.
Wishing everyone a great weekend! :beer:Total Starting Debt August 2014- £38,061

Checked my current account this morning and managed to skim off another £45 towards the CC.
About to sit down and do some meal planning for the week, will pack DH off to the supermarket with strict instructions not to deviate from the shopping list! After such a frugal week last week I think we will treat ourselves to a nice meal this evening, perhaps a homemade Thai curry.
Been browsing for some new frugal meal inspiration. Think I might try and make the most of our slow cooker this week- stews bulked out with lentils and plenty of veg etc.
Had an e-mail to say that the money for my old phone should appear in the next couple of working days so that can kick off September's efforts
ETS shopping list all done, and I have updated my signature for September, seeing as all our Sept 1st loan payment seems to be showing on our account already... quite excited about a fresh month to crack on with!Total Starting Debt August 2014- £38,061

Massive congrats on how far you've come in such a short time!:j:j
Not too long until you're debt free! But remember you still need to live while debt busting.
Igam, you bring up a very good point. Our big TV broke a few years ago, while it was being fixed we were using a little TV and it was so odd. :rotfl:0 -
Hello PP! I've just read through your diary and a lot of it sounds familiar - Lidl shopping, bread machine for homemade pizza, ebaying kids' clothes ... I too have to fight the temptation sometimes to start ebaying random toys lying around
Agree with the others who said it's worth building up your debt-busting habits now - we've been at it for almost a year and a lot of it is second nature now, it definitely changes your way of thinking. I've slacked off a bit over the summer holidays - sometimes you just have to spend a bit of money to keep the kids entertained and save your sanity! - but I'm back to it now and determined to get back on track.
Good luck with it. I'll be subscribing0
