Looking better already
Life is too short PP and those things you have 'given up' you probably didn't need in the first place and will soon be replaced with things that do indeed 'add value'. I wish my LBM as 20 years ago. I think there are some times in the past I would have appreciated more when they happened. Lots of people on here say they 'have no regrets' about running up eye watering debts and that they are now focussed on the future, being debt free and all that. Well I have come to realise although I share their wish for the future have have some BIG regrets on how I got here in the first place.............sorry hijacked your thread!

I know just what you mean Igamogam! Think I am somewhere in between... I have big regrets about certain things we have spent money on in the past (cars, Sky TV, generally frittering away on expensive food and clothes) but one of the big factors in our debt was our beautiful big family home we stretched ourselves to buy many years ago. If we hadn't bought it I suspect we would be doing just fine now BUT we had some of our happiest most beautiful years in that house and I'm not sure I would swap those memories.
Life is one big learning curve eh?!
In some ways, I am grateful that we made mistakes big enough to realise the errors of our ways... we'd probably be pootling along in 'manageable' levels of debt otherwise, whereas now I suspect we will have a MUCH more financially secure and enlightened future!Total Starting Debt August 2014- £38,061

Hooray to cheques
I know what you mean re wishing you'd had your LBM ages ago but I am a firm believer in everything happens for a reason (plus there's nothing we can do about it now lol)

Happy Sunday morning all!
Chilled out lazy morning here today. Been sat in bed entering competitions and meal planning for the week.
Have packed off DH with our youngest to do the weekly shop, although the list was a short one :j We seem to have a tonne of fish in the freezer so plenty on the menu this week. Found some nice new recipes on Pinterest to have a go at while using up bits and bobs in the cupboard. Be good to have a 'using up' week
Better get up and make the most of a quiet house- spare room to sort and a big batch of soup to make for lunches during the week :ATotal Starting Debt August 2014- £38,061

I love Sundays.
Caught up on lots of little jobs yesterday, had a wonderful big roast dinner, and lazed on the sofa feeling fat as a pig watching X Factor- happy days! :rotfl:
Plenty of the roast left to use up during the week, always good as the children would eat it every day if they could!
Most of the spare cash this month has been my earnings trickling in from my little hobby business. DH's salary pays for the bills and day to day spending so every penny that comes into my account gets whisked straight off onto the CC before I am tempted to spend it!
Should have another £114 being paid to me this week so will hopefully just hit the CC target. I have hardly done any work at all this month though so seriously need to pull my finger out and be a bit more productive. Might have a rummage for some more things to ebay too. There are a few nice dresses in my wardrobe that could probably sell, and the last box of tack odds and ends in the garage sat doing nothing- bits, stirrup irons and leathers, etc. Sold pretty much all my horse stuff when I sold my last horse years ago but for some reason this last box still lurks!
Half term next week so won't get much done then, need to make the most of the next 5 days!Total Starting Debt August 2014- £38,061

Would you get another horse?
Good luck with ebay - it seems to take alot of money from sellers these days!

I'd love another horse one day. Perhaps when we are back on track financially and the children are a bit older. I still ride for friends (although not much recently) so get my fix, not the same though is it. My time will come around again eventually!
I did share a horse last year but it was a bit of a nightmare... the horse wasn't quite tracking up properly behind and regularly tried to have us off. The owner wasn't the most experienced or confident, was somewhat in denial, and wouldn't get a work up done to identify the problem (yet was happy for me to ride through all the broncs for her!) so I walked away. Frustrating not to be able to manage a horse as carefully as I did my own and I'll be damned if I'm going to have my neck broken helping out someone who won't help themselves!
I haven't mentioned my line of work as it is a bit unusual and specific, prefer to remain incognito! :cool:Total Starting Debt August 2014- £38,061
