Contact your LOCAL NEIGHBOURHOOD police. Not Crimestoppers, not a non-emergency number, your local district team, who that will be will depend on the structure of your local force. Make sure you spell out exactly what the score is. "Neighbours smoking weed" won't arouse much interest. "Neighbour's house has strong smell of cannabis which is noticeable several doors down and is persistent/permanent". Anything else you notice which is in any way antisocial would be useful as well.
Don't expect old bill to come crashing through their door at 5am (except in the unlikely event that there's evidence of supply) but they might do the obvious thing, which would be knock on the door and ask them to keep their windows shut.
Incidentally it's no more legal to smoke cannabis inside your own home than out of it.0 -
Our street has become terrible for this too, probably about half a dozen houses in a terraced back-to-back street stinking the place out, we can't have the windows open most of the time unless we want our house to smell too. it turns my stomach. We have tried the local police more than once, and they send us a letter thanking us for reporting it.0

Thanks for all the advice, much appreciated.
The young lads that live there seem to purchase "boy racer" cars and do them up on the street. Quite often you will see/smell them with a joint whilst working on the cars - very brazen about it. It was only a few months ago I was woken up by the sound of an angle grinder where they were cutting a DVLA clamp off one of the vehicles which was placed there because of the vehicle having no tax. Absolutely no regard for the law at all.
Its a rented property, is notifying the landlord an option? If so, is there anyway of finding out who the landlord is?0 -

Try http://www.landregistry.gov.uk/ (costs £3 or £4 for a property search). Also, the Police might be a bit more interested if the pot-heads are driving whilst high...0 -
You need to speak to a local police officer immediately. Take notes, collate video and audio evidence and interview the youths believed to be perpetrating the trouble.
Pass this evidence to your local bobby when he next calls and the matter will be dealt with swiftly.0 -

Seriously? Seriously? "Collate video and audio evidence"? A bit of low level curtain-twitching is one thing, but sitting filming your next door neighbours is another. Given the choice between living near a neighbour who smokes some dope and a neighbour who hides in the bushes with a video camera, I know which I'd rather.
As for "interview the youths" - if by this you mean knock on the door and politely ask them to keep their windows shut as it's stinking out the whole street, then that's actually a very good idea. Anything more than that and it's a very, very bad idea.
By the way, I'm delighted you have such a rosy view of the cops, and at the risk of bursting your bubble no police officer is going to sit and wade through hours of video footage of someone smoking a joint.0 -
You lot crack me up, it's a herb for !!!!!! , maybe you would rather they were drinking instead and urinating everywhere whilst vomiting , eating kebabs and drink driving? In fact if you report them for smoking a herb I sincerely hope they do turn to alcohol instead , that would be ok because its legal right?0

The smell of cannabis is foul, and it lingers everywhere.
And users also drive whilst under its influence, throw up and urinate everywhere, eat kebabs etc
The difference is alcohol is legal, cannabis is illegal.0
