Neighbours smoking cannabis

When I say neighbours, I mean the house 3 doors along.

Each to their own what they do inside their property, but with the hot weather and them having their windows wide open, the street absolutely stinks of the stuff.

Not the sort of people you can confront, just a shame others have to smell the vile stuff.

You could always sue them for the price of a gastric band from inhaling the fumes.

The munchies are always the killer ! lol

TBH, I would ring crimestopppers or speak to the local Bobby, might be a good collar for him/her.

Neighbour phoned bib because they could smell weed, found a factory as well.

I have this problem too, except it's a housemate... which is why I'm looking to move. Once I move I might report it as he's stank the house/garden out.

I agree, unless you live in a quiet village where the police have nothing better to do they won't do anything. Someone smoking cannabis in their house/garden is barely a crime.

As I advised someone in a recent similar topic the only course of action to take is complain to their landlord should they be renting.

Not necessarily true regarding the police.

A call to the non-emergency police number while they are outside smoking may cause a police car to come your way. The police prioritise calls, so if there's nothing else happening at the same time then they'll divert a car to this, even if it's low priority.

It may also be given a higher priority if the family are known to the police and is part of a pattern of crimes and anti-social behaviour.

People can do what they like in their own houses/gardens. But why should their illegal activity (severity aside, it is still illegal) affect those around them?

When I was at Derby uni a few years ago, everyone in my block in the halls of residence bar myself and a couple of girls on the top floor (thats 3 out of 36 students) smoked it and stank the place out pretty much every night. We all reported it to the site warden once only to find him smoking it with them a few weeks later!

I think its far more common than people realise, might as well make it legal and tax it.

Tobacco is legal and taxed and there is a very large black market in tax free smuggled tobacco where the profits from such activity ends up funding criminals/terrorists overseas. I'm for legalizing it but I wouldn't use the fact we can tax it as an argument for it. It should still be a controlled substance and dealing it should be kept out of the hands of criminals. Even if partially legalized anyone with it with the intent to sell it should still be charged with intent to supply. I'd agree with anyone who wishes to grow a plant or two in their own home/greenhouse in the yard for personal use only....just not a couple hundred plants and sold to others for profit.
