Asda are a joke

Today in Asda, I picked a bottle of wine reduced to sell from £6 to £3, at the checkout it went through at £5.50, which is never surprising at Asda, I queried it and someone was sent to check it, he came back and said it is £3 but they can't sell it to me for that,
I'll have to pay £6 and accept an Asda gift card for the £3 difference. I stood as long as I could and argued how ridiculous this was but he wouldn't budge and the queue was building so I walked out.
I've emailed customer services with the details and am waiting for their response. I've never heard of anything so stupid and I am also looking to see if it's illegal to clearly mark and item with a price and then refuse to sell it even though they admit it's the right price.

I agree, I could really do with that wine now though!0 -
Another entitled poster... ASDA were not obliged to sell you that wine, let alone give you a gift card. I say suck it up - or don't if you decided not to buy it in the end.
I say get lawyer'd up and take the thieving gits to court, really take them to the cleaners with this one. You could have been pregnant and slipped on the reduced wine that turned out not be reduced."Always fulfil your needs, only fulfil your wants when your needs are no longer a concern" - citricsquid0 -

Why not try M&S and pay £9 :beer:There are more questions than answers :shhh: :silenced:WARNING ! May go silent for unfriendly repliesPlease excuse me Spell it MOST times:A UK Resident :A0 -
This has happened to be a few times in the Co-op, and they always let me have it for the price it is labelled at. Maybe that is their policy, and if so it's a good one as it's a bad idea to mislead customers and annoy them like that. It's not illegal though.0

Clearly not an M&S shopper or you would know that they sell lots of wine for less than £9 a bottle. Currently slurping a nice chilled rose at £5.19 a bottle. Currently you can get 25% off if you buy 6 bottles of wine, so very MSE!
Sorry, no symbol for clinking wine glasses!0 -
