@happy are you still a FD customer, i guess that is why there where more helpful, as an ex customer i am just getting stonewalled0

Well a little bit of a result, out of the blue today I received an email from the FOS to say they had reviewed the initial assessment of the complaint and now decide it should be up held, and FD advised to refund immediately.
They have until the 24th July to respond and I know they can disagree and ask for a ombudsman review, however given they have admitted liability and advised they do owe the money back I can't see why they would not just do this now based on the FOS upholding the complaint.
Having spoken to FOS they informed me that it was re-evaluated in light of the number of complaints they are getting regarding this issue about hsbc/FD0 -
I got excited when an unexpected letter turned up from HSBC.
Turns out they have acquired some companies who miss sold PPI so they have sent me a PPI complaint form.
So that's two lots of money they owe me now !Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 0650 -
Well despite HSBC telling me in February that I will be contacted 'in the coming months', I still have not heard anything so have just filled in the financial ombudsman form and sent a secure message to HSBC informing them of this.0

thanks for the help and advice.
I complained to HSBC - they offered £50 goodwill gesture for being given in-accurate expectations of when the matter would be resolved by but no joy in being given any set date this time after previously being promised a couple of months on from december.
I've sent off my complaint to the financial ombudsman so I will keep you all updated with how I get on. Would love to hear of anyone else who manages to have some luck.0 -
New to this site as found on search engine. Got letter from hsbc yesterday out of the blue. I didn't even know hsbc were giving interest refunds, so came as complete shock so started to search to see if letter was spam.
Letter says paying me the interest back to my account next week of £4,074. My loan date was 30/03/2010 and is still open. Didn't say anything about missing information on early repayments like everyone else suggests, but says it is to do with wrong statement interest dates. Anyone heard this? Looking through online information from last year it says refunds are due to missing information on early payment options and only for loans form October 2010. Anyone know anything? Hopefully all true and money will be in my account on 22nd.0 -
So Beinggood, your loan was opened on 30 March 2010 and you received a refund? I am intrigued as HSBC told me my loan from Sept 2010 did not qualify for a refund!
I wonder if it is worth contacting them again then!0 -
Hi YeahBaby they have stated mine as the 'statements didn't cover the correct period', nothing to do with what everyone else is saying to do with lack of information on overpayments. This seems to be something different, so maybe hope for others.0

So the FOS have found in my favour and decided that it is unfair to make me wait indefinitely for first direct to refund the loan interest,
First Direct responded to say they disagree with the FOS but as a "Gesture of goodwill" they will process the refund within 4 weeks subject to my settlement of the complaint.
Think its a bit of a joke they calling it a gesture of good will but either way the FOS seem to have solved the problem0 -

That's a good result. The FOS write back to me last week to say they have written to HSBC to let them know I have a complaint and that HSBC should contact me soon to say they are looking into it.
So hopefully something will happen.0
